The posting

Merch on Demand is Amazon's print-on-demand business, enabling customers to purchase custom-printed products including apparel, drinkware, phone cases, jerseys, backpacks, PopSockets, and more; that are produced and fulfilled on demand within Amazon's fulfillment network. The Head of Merch on Demand Supply Chain is a senior leadership role responsible for the end-to-end supply chain strategy and execution for this business. This leader sets the long-term vision for how Merch on Demand sources materials, develops and scales new print technologies, maintains best-in-class product quality, and delivers orders to customers faster and more cost-effectively.

Key job responsibilities This role owns the global sourcing strategy for all raw materials, blanks, inks, and components used across the Merch on Demand product catalog. The leader drives R&D efforts to identify, test, and scale new print methods, substrates, and product formats that expand the Merch on Demand offering. They are responsible for quality assurance and quality control programs across the network, reducing defect rates and improving the end-to-end customer experience. The role owns production throughput and shipping speed performance, identifying and removing bottlenecks to deliver orders to customers faster. This includes defining the strategy for current and next-generation print technologies (Direct-To-Garment, Direct-Film-Transfer, sublimation, UV, etc.), ensuring the network operates on the most efficient and highest-quality methods available. The leader drives capacity planning and network design, including site selection, capacity expansion, and geographic optimization to support growth and improve delivery speed. They partner with technology teams to develop and deploy fulfillment systems, automation, and tooling that improve operational efficiency and scalability. Across all of these areas, this role drives supply chain innovation, building a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.

A day in the life • Review daily production metrics across the Merch on Demand network, including DPMO (defects per million opportunities), throughput per hour, SLA performance, and shipping speed to identify trends and areas requiring immediate action. • Lead a weekly business review with sourcing, quality, production, and fulfillment technology teams to assess performance against goals and align on priorities. • Evaluate a new blank supplier proposal, comparing cost, quality samples, and lead times against current vendors to determine whether to proceed with a pilot. • Meet with the R&D team to review test results from a new print method trial, assess quality and cost implications, and decide whether to scale to additional sites. • Partner with the network planning team to model capacity scenarios for an upcoming product launch, determining how to allocate volume across sites to meet demand while optimizing shipping speed and cost. • Dive deep into a quality excursion at a specific site, reviewing defect data, root cause analysis, and corrective actions with the quality team. • Join a working session with the fulfillment technology team to review the roadmap for automation investments, prioritizing projects based on expected throughput improvement and ROI. • Conduct a monthly innovation review, where teams present new ideas and experiments across print methods, materials, packaging, and process improvements. • Align with finance on variable cost performance and improvement plans, reviewing cost per unit trends and identifying levers to drive further savings. • Meet with transportation and logistics partners to review shipping cost and speed performance, exploring opportunities to improve delivery promises through network placement or carrier strategy.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
