The posting

Robotics Delivery & Packaging Innovation (RDPI) Global Engineering is looking for a System Development Engineer (SysDE) to join our New Product Introduction (NPI) team. Our mission is to eliminate operational complexity at the source, ensuring every RDPI automation solution is designed for deployability, reliability, and maintainability from Day One.

As a SysDE III on the NPI team, you will embed with Hardware Development programs from the Alpha phase to influence controls and system architecture *before* solutions are built. Rather than fixing deployment and reliability problems in the field, you will design them out, shaping the automation, firmware, and integration decisions that determine how easily a solution scales across our global network. You are a technical leader who owns the controls architecture of the systems you support, decomposes ambiguous problems into clear workstreams, and partners with Hardware Development, Technical Program Managers, and the Scale and AI teams to deliver solutions that deploy themselves and run with minimal human intervention.

Key job responsibilities - Embed with NPI programs from Alpha through GA, influencing controls and system architecture for deployability, reliability, and maintainability. - Design standardized hardware/software interfaces and modular, reusable control patterns that reduce integration complexity across solutions. - Build and validate automation and commissioning frameworks (CI/CD for controls code, automated configuration validation, emulators) in partnership with the Scale team. - Lead reviews of architecture, design, and operations for your solutions, and contribute to reviews of partner-team systems. - Partner with Hardware Development, TPMs, and the AI team to incorporate self-service deployment and predictive capabilities into solutions from inception. - Mentor engineers, set engineering and operational excellence standards for the team, and contribute to the Operational Planning (OP) process.

A day in the life You work across industrial control platforms (Codesys, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff) and the networked field devices, firmware, and cloud/WMS interfaces. You architect the controls software for a new solution, design reusable control patterns and contribute it to our libraries, write and review structured-text and automation-tooling code, and partner with Hardware to shape a system before it's built. Lead design reviews that surface architectural and scalability risks early, and prototype frameworks, emulators, automated validation, CI/CD for controls code that become the foundation future solutions are built on. You build and engineer solutions that are correct by design.

- Bachelor's degree - Knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl - Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems, or experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers - 5+ years of professional system development or controls engineering experience (or equivalent). - Experience designing or architecting controls/automation systems for new or existing products, including making technical trade-offs. - Hands-on experience with industrial control systems and PLC programming (e.g., Codesys, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff) using Ladder Logic and/or Structured Text. - Experience with industrial networking, system integration, and safety signal integration (e.g., E-Stops, I/O).

- Experience with automation and any version control tools, or experience in software development and experience in deploying identity and access management systems - Experience in material handling equipment (MHE) or automation environments, or experience working with Material handling equipment (MHE) - Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions - Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems, or experience managing teams - Experience embedding with hardware or product development teams to influence design for deployment, reliability, or maintainability. - Experience mentoring engineers and participating in technical reviews, hiring, or promotion assessments.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
