Join AWS and help operate one of the world's most advanced cloud infrastructures serving European customers. As an intern on our Managed Operations team, you'll gain hands-on experience building, operating, and improving critical cloud services like EC2, S3, Lambda, and Bedrock. You'll work alongside experienced engineers to solve real operational challenges, contribute to system reliability and performance, and develop practical skills in cloud operations that will shape your career in technology.

Key job responsibilities

Monitor and analyze the operational health of cloud services, investigating anomalies and documenting findings in detailed reports Execute changes to production systems following established change management processes and operational procedures Collaborate with team members to resolve operational issues and improve system reliability Develop and share automation scripts and tools that help the team diagnose and resolve problems more efficiently Participate in on-call rotations to support incident response and maintain service availability

A day in the life Your internship focuses on the operational excellence of the European Sovereign Cloud, a specialized AWS infrastructure serving EU customers. You'll spend your time monitoring the health of large-scale distributed systems, investigating anomalies to understand root causes, and documenting findings in actionable reports. You'll collaborate with your team to execute planned changes to production systems following established change management processes, and you'll help resolve operational issues from your team's backlog. Throughout the week, you might write automation scripts to help your team diagnose problems more efficiently, or participate in knowledge-sharing sessions with colleagues. You'll also gain exposure to on-call rotations, learning how to respond to incidents and support system reliability outside regular business hours.

Eligibility requirement Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Candidate must be a national of an EU member state and residing in the EU to operate the AWS European Sovereign Cloud.

- Experience with Linux operating systems and network troubleshooting, or experience in networking administration and troubleshooting - Experience with Python, Perl, or another scripting language - Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Management, Information Systems, or a related discipline, with graduation expected in late 2026 or 2027 - National of an EU member state and residing in the EU - Fluency in written and spoken English

- Experience executing standard operating procedures and following operational best practices - Knowledge of or experience with systems engineering and site reliability engineering principles - Experience operating or monitoring 24x7 high-availability distributed software applications - Familiarity with performance tuning, fleet optimization, and monitoring frameworks such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, or Elastic - Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible - Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, or exposure to generative AI technologies and automation tools
