The posting

Amazon created one of the most sophisticated supply chains in the world. From the introduction of Amazon Prime to the use of advanced technology for package delivery, Amazon consistently drives change from the front of the pack.

Are you an innovative leader that wants to lead the cross-functional design and deployment of next-generation sortation and distribution solutions into our world-class fulfillment and logistics network? Do you want to take ownership of solving the industry's most complex construction and integration challenges? Does the challenge of planning and implementing facility network infrastructure — including new builds, retrofits, expansions, and program initiatives — appeal to you? If you're looking to be challenged in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment, and you have strong technical problem-solving and project management skills, then this job is for you!

Amazon is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented Tech Infra Program Manager with the Global Engineering Services (GES) North America (NA) Startup Engineering Risk Management (ERM) team who is able to collaborate effectively with internal and external technical teams and be responsible for the planning, development, and delivery of physical distribution systems across multiple building types. The role primarily focuses on managing technology and integration projects end-to-end, delivering turnkey solutions that meet project goals and support a timely handover to operations.

In this role you will be responsible for working with internal customers to define highly ambiguous problem statements, influencing construction and integration strategies across the NA network, writing technical specifications and performing technical evaluations on equipment and systems, generating multiyear budgets, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing multiple large, high-visibility programs simultaneously through the project lifecycle. You will partner with internal customers and internal/external stakeholders — including equipment vendors, customers, and partners — to engage as a team and ensure seamless project delivery. To meet timelines and minimize disruption to support teams, you will manage the overall schedule, proactively mitigate risks, and keep the scope of engineering deliverables under control.

This person will possess a strong engineering and program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background in fulfillment and distribution center designs, including a solid understanding of design approaches and industry technologies. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an innovative environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in, and get the job done.

This role requires 50% regional travel on a yearly basis. When not traveling, you must have availability to work from a corporate office. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of one of the corporate office locations listed. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Key job responsibilities - This person will manage multiple large, highly complex programs, solely responsible for driving them through the develop and deployment lifecycle. - You deeply understand the business and technical requirements of product integration from mechanical, electrical, and controls functions - You are expected to have fluency in systems level architecture, critique and debate tech design, judge technical viability of the product/solution and tailor communication for tech and non-tech stakeholders. - Work with the Operations Leadership team to manage the networks strategy and project priority to ensure resources are always focused on the most impactful projects - Define program/project scope and technical/business requirements, and relay that to the design engineering team concisely to allow for efficient transfer of knowledge - Evaluate solutions effectively and make decisions that balance business value and technology risk - Help your customers and the engineering teams make appropriate trade-offs by considering the larger picture (e.g., business goals, throughput expectations, quality requirements, efficiency, maintainability, operability) - Identify standards and drive consistent application of engineering changes across North America - Build strong working relationships with Fulfillment Center (FC) leadership and their operations teams across multiple sites including Industrial Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, and Process Engineering stakeholders - Communicate and present program status to VPs of Engineering and Operations - Data mine and transform raw thoughts into clear technical documentation - Ability to travel up to 50% to interact with internal and external business and technical leaders

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
