AMD is seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer with a strong focus on hardware to join our growing team. As a key contributor, you will help drive AMD's ability to deliver industry-leading technologies and high-quality products to market.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, has a keen eye for software design and development, and is diligent and passionate about technology. A successful candidate will bring strong software engineering expertise, software architecture and system design skills, and the ability to design scalable, maintainable, and extensible solutions that integrate closely with datacenter hardware platforms. They will also serve as a technical mentor to junior engineers, fostering technical growth and best practice adoption. Additionally, strong knowledge of datacenter-scale hardware and technologies such as CPUs, GPUs, DPUs, and network switches will help the candidate succeed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and drive execution of comprehensive, highly effective software for sophisticated new technology and new product introduction projects
  • Validate new software features before releasing them to customers
  • Work directly with customers to support and enable the manufacturing process
  • Contribute to a high-functioning feature team
  • Collaborate closely with multiple teams to deliver key planning solutions and the technology to support them
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, durable, and innovative software architectures for next-generation datacenter systems
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting engineering excellence and best practice adoption
  • Work closely with development teams and project managers to drive results
  • Up to 25% travel

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience developing production-ready code in languages such as Python, C, Rust, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Shell/Bash, or PowerShell
  • Served as a technical mentor to junior engineers, driving knowledge transfer and best practice adoption
  • Solid experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Containerd, and orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes or Slurm
  • Deep understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Hands-on experience with system board interfaces (I2C, PCIe, IPMI, and Redfish) and network communication protocols (TCP/IP and UDP)
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design principles, patterns, and best practices, with the ability to design scalable and maintainable software systems
  • Previous experience in hyperscale computing environments or datacenter platform infrastructure is a significant plus
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and technologies is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
