THE ROLE

AMD is seeking a senior system technical leader, provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise to our growing team. As a key contributor, you will have a strong technical background to contribute to all aspects of the innovative system with partners. We have competitive benefit packages and an award-winning culture. Join us!

Based in Shenzhen, this role bridges AMD system design teams with ODM/OEM partners and component suppliers. The core focus is to surfacing external technology trends back to the internal team. A key expectation is to identify and evaluate innovation solutions for next-generation products, keeping AMD ahead on subsystem technologies.

THE PERSON

A System engineer with a solid grasp of PC/laptop subsystems — from motherboard-side controller/PHY to external components to whole-machine integration. You understand the full picture well enough to have confident technical conversations with both AMD internal teams and ODM/OEM engineers. You have a strong sense of where subsystem technology is heading and can evaluate new solutions early, before they become the industry standard.

You are highly motivated, a strong communicator and very good at collabration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be part of the System desing team, serve as the primary technical bridge for internal and external.
  • Support subsystem solution definition and component selection, ensuring alignment between AMD architecture and ODM/OEM implementation.
  • Identify and evaluate innovation solutions for next-generation products — new interfaces, new component technologies, new integration approaches — and present clear recommendations to the AMD internal team.
  • Participate in technical design reviews on schematic, layout, BOM, and integration.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with ODM/OEM teams and component suppliers.

REQUESTED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree or above in EE, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years in laptop/PC system development.
  • Good understanding of motherboard-side solutions and external components:
  • Audio: I²S/SSP/PCM, codec/DAC/amp, SPK topology and acoustic integration, noise isolation.
  • Display: eDP/DisplayPort/MIPI-DSI; panel timing, backlight, basic SI.
  • Sensor: I²C/SPI interfaces; accelerometer, proximity, ambient light, hall, fingerprint, touchpad, TSP (touch sensor panel).
  • Storage: NVMe (PCIe) SSD, storage controller, power and thermal.
  • Memory: DDR5/LPDDR5, memory PHY/controller, SPD, training, basic SI/PI.
  • Understanding of PC/laptop whole-machine integration.
  • Good verbal and written English

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with major ODM/OEM laptop companies
  • Experience in architecturing/tech leaders in any of the above key device company

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
