Job Description

American Express National Bank (AENB) is American Express’ U.S. banking operation serving consumer and small business customers with payments, financing, and deposit products that account for more than 65% of the company’s revenues. AENB HQ supports the administration of AENB programs, helping ensure its safety and soundness while driving greater effectiveness, efficiency, and consistency across the enterprise through governance, strategic planning, control management, program management, and regulatory functions.

The Analyst, Affiliate Management Governance, will support the Enterprise and AENB affiliate management programs through the execution and ongoing enhancement of centralized governance activities. The role will deliver data analysis and execute activities across the third-party risk management lifecycle.

This position requires strong collaboration, analytical and communication skills, intellectual curiosity, and attention to detail. The successful candidate will be a proactive individual contributor who takes ownership of deliverables, investigates issues, develops actionable recommendations, and identifies opportunities to simplify and automate work. The role will partner closely with internal stakeholders to promote consistent program execution and alignment with applicable policies, procedures, governance standards, and regulatory expectations, including Regulation W, as applicable, and the Interagency Guidance on Third-Party Relationships: Risk Management.

Responsibilities

  • Support audit, regulatory exam, and second-line review deliverables, including analyzing requests, reviewing evidence, preparing responses, and tracking submissions through established review and approval processes.
  • Collect, reconcile, and analyze affiliate management data to identify trends, root causes, risks, and opportunities for process, procedure, or control improvements.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, milestone and dependency tracking, and status reporting across governance initiatives. Identify risks and blockers and coordinate timely completion of deliverables.
  • Support the development and maintenance of affiliate management standards, procedures, and program documentation, including requirements mapping, gap analysis, and coordination of stakeholder reviews and approvals.
  • Execute Process Risk Self-Assessment (PRSA) and Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) activities, including process and risk mapping, control development, test-script preparation, and testing aligned with established methodologies and program requirements.
  • Identify, document, and communicate governance gaps, findings, and policy exceptions. Partner with appropriate owners to track remediation, escalate overdue items, and support timely resolution and closure.
  • Partner with the affiliate management team, Control Management, and key stakeholders to resolve data and documentation gaps, promote consistent program execution, and strengthen governance processes.
  • Identify, test, and implement process improvements using approved AI-enabled tools, agents, and automation to strengthen analysis, documentation, and reporting. Validate outputs and measure improvements in efficiency and accuracy, with appropriate governance and oversight.
  • Ensure governance activities are aligned with applicable enterprise and AENB policies, standards, regulatory requirements, and supervisory expectations, including Regulation W, as applicable, and the Interagency Guidance on Third-Party Relationships: Risk Management.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools, agents, or automation to support analysis, documentation, reporting, and continuous improvement, with appropriate governance.

Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years of banking, operational risk, audit/exam management, third-party risk management, control management, and/or governance experience.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to evaluate data, identify gaps and trends, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate findings, risks and recommendations.
  • High attention to detail, superior organizational skills, and ability to follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
  • Ability to thoughtfully leverage AI-enabled tools, agents, or automation where appropriate to improve efficiency, analysis, documentation, and reporting, while applying sound judgment and governance expectations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
