Technology provides the foundation for everything we do in the company while driving differentiation through building and leveraging innovative technology and data insights.

The Financial Crime and Risk Management (FCRM) team within Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) at American Express is building the next generation of AI-enabled world-class capabilities to support second-line risk and compliance functions and financial crime investigation teams.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Actimize Engineer to help design, develop, enhance, and scale our NICE Actimize Suspicious Activity Monitoring (SAM) platform supporting Anti-Money Laundering (AML) transaction monitoring and regulatory compliance initiatives across the company.

The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on expertise in Actimize SAM, strong software and data engineering skills, and experience delivering scalable, reliable, and high-performance AML transaction monitoring solutions. This role will play a critical part in modernizing our AML technology ecosystem, enhancing transaction monitoring capabilities, and supporting enterprise-wide platform reliability and AI readiness initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, configure, customize, test, deploy, and support NICE Actimize SAM solutions to meet AML transaction monitoring and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain Actimize SAM detection scenarios, monitoring rules, thresholds, and configurations to support evolving AML business and regulatory requirements.
  • Work extensively with Actimize SAM components, including Actimize Intelligence Server (AIS), data processing workflows, and supporting application infrastructure.
  • Design, develop, and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and processing pipelines to support high-volume transaction monitoring within the Actimize SAM platform.
  • Collaborate with Product, Compliance, Risk, and Architecture teams to translate AML monitoring requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Function as a core member of an Agile engineering team, contributing to user story analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between Actimize SAM and enterprise data sources, databases, and downstream systems.
  • Perform SQL query optimization, database performance tuning, and application troubleshooting to improve SAM processing efficiency and platform performance.
  • Support Actimize SAM platform upgrades, migrations, enhancements, and modernization initiatives while ensuring system stability and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop automation solutions for application deployment, testing, monitoring, and operational support.
  • Investigate and resolve complex production issues related to scenario execution, transaction processing, data quality, application performance, and batch processing failures.
  • Partner with Architecture, Governance, Risk, Product, and Engineering teams to deliver enterprise-scale AML transaction monitoring capabilities.
  • Strengthen platform reliability, observability, scalability, and operational readiness across Actimize SAM applications and supporting data services.
  • Mentor junior engineers, establish engineering best practices, and contribute to technical documentation, code reviews, and solution design discussions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering or enterprise application development, including significant hands-on experience with NICE Actimize SAM (Suspicious Activity Monitoring).
  • Strong hands-on experience in Actimize SAM development, configuration, customization, implementation, and production support.
  • Experience with Actimize Intelligence Server (AIS), SAM application architecture, scenario execution, and data processing components.
  • Strong understanding of AML transaction monitoring scenarios, detection logic, thresholds, and transaction processing workflows.
  • Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Java, Python, or other relevant technologies used for Actimize development and integration.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL, including complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with ETL processes, data mapping, data validation, and integration of large-scale transactional and customer datasets into Actimize SAM.
  • Experience troubleshooting Actimize application performance, batch processing, scenario execution, and data integration issues.
  • Understanding of enterprise application integration patterns, APIs, web services, and backend processing systems.
  • Experience delivering scalable, secure, and highly available enterprise applications.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop technical specifications, document system processing flows, and translate functional requirements into technical implementations.

Preferred:

  • Deep technical expertise in NICE Actimize SAM and AIS, including scenario development, application configuration, deployment, and production troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Actimize SAM platform upgrades, version migrations, performance optimization, and modernization initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of Actimize SAM data models, transaction monitoring scenarios, detection logic, and underlying processing architecture.
  • Experience optimizing large-scale AML transaction monitoring systems processing high volumes of financial transactions.
  • Familiarity with AML regulatory requirements, including BSA/AML, KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR).
  • Experience with cloud technologies, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and integration of Actimize solutions with cloud-based data platforms.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing, and application monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with distributed data processing, messaging frameworks, and enterprise-scale data integration architectures.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
