American National is seeking a detail-oriented Disbursement Specialist to support our Annuity Operations team. In this role, you will review, validate, and process annuity distribution requests while ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely completion. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with detailed financial transactions, and can confidently communicate with customers, agents, and internal business partners through phone and email interactions. What You'll Do
Review and process annuity distribution requests, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company procedures. Process a variety of annuity transactions, including:
Full and partial surrenders Systematic withdrawals Outgoing 1035 exchanges Fixed and interest-only distributions
Communicate with policy owners, financial professionals, and internal departments via phone and email to resolve questions, obtain missing information, and provide updates regarding pending transactions. Review documentation and transaction requests for fraud prevention and risk mitigation. Apply knowledge of annuity taxation and distribution requirements to ensure proper processing and reporting. Maintain knowledge of federal and state withholding requirements and applicable IRS regulations. Support processing involving:
Traditional and Roth IRAs 401(k), 457, and pension-related annuity distributions Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) 72(t) distributions Transfers and rollovers Inherited IRAs Spousal distributions
Accurately enter, validate, and maintain transaction data within multiple administrative systems. Partner with team members and internal stakeholders to meet service expectations and processing deadlines. Review, verify, and process time-sensitive New York Regulation 60 transactions in accordance with company policies, compliance requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
What We're Looking For Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. 2-4 years of relevant professional experience. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
2-3 years of insurance, annuity, banking, or financial services experience. Experience processing financial transactions, withdrawals, disbursements, transfers, or related account activity. Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, banking procedures, or financial operations. Experience handling customer inquiries through both phone and email communication.
