As a Social Media Producer specializing in financial literacy, you will create engaging, shareable content that makes economic news and personal finance more accessible to diverse audiences. You will transform financial literacy programs, podcasts, and economic journalism into compelling short-form videos, graphics, and social-first stories. Working across platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and emerging social channels, you will help expand audience reach and strengthen community engagement. You will combine editorial judgment, creative storytelling, and visual production skills to develop content that captures attention and encourages meaningful conversations. Using audience insights and performance analytics, you will continuously refine content strategies to maximize engagement and reach. This remote opportunity is ideal for a creative, digitally savvy producer who understands social media trends and is passionate about connecting economic topics to everyday life. The position is a two-year, grant-funded opportunity within a collaborative media environment that values journalistic integrity, innovation, and audience-focused storytelling.

Accountabilities:

  • Create and produce highly shareable, social-first content for multiple platforms, including short-form videos, graphics, and other audience-focused digital assets, while consistently meeting tight deadlines.
  • Identify compelling stories, memorable moments, and relevant ideas from financial literacy programs and economic journalism that can be adapted into engaging social media content.
  • Develop original social video concepts by researching topics, writing scripts, crafting attention-grabbing hooks, selecting clips, and shaping stories for different audiences and platforms.
  • Write and edit social media copy, headlines, captions, scripts, and other audience-facing content while maintaining editorial accuracy, clarity, and an engaging tone.
  • Plan, schedule, and publish content strategically across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Bluesky, and emerging social media platforms.
  • Develop and manage the social media strategy for the financial literacy portfolio, ensuring content aligns with editorial objectives, audience needs, and platform-specific best practices.
  • Edit and produce visual content using video editing and graphic design tools to create polished, accessible, and platform-appropriate assets.
  • Monitor social media performance, analyze audience engagement and content metrics, and prepare regular reports to evaluate campaigns and inform future decisions.
  • Use analytics, audience insights, and emerging trends to refine content formats, publishing strategies, and creative approaches.
  • Collaborate with reporters, producers, hosts, and other editorial colleagues to identify content opportunities and translate journalistic stories into effective social experiences.
  • Maintain consistent branding, editorial voice, and journalistic standards across all social platforms, ensuring that content is accurate, engaging, and appropriately fact-checked.
  • Stay informed about evolving social media formats, platform algorithms, creator trends, and industry best practices, particularly within financial literacy and economic education.
  • Help foster meaningful conversations between audiences, hosts, and reporters by developing interactive content and encouraging community engagement.
  • Appear on camera when needed or direct and edit on-camera video content to support storytelling and audience connection.
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience producing social media content for a brand, media outlet, newsroom, publication, or other editorial organization.
  • Demonstrated success creating engaging, high-performing social content, including short-form video, graphics, and platform-specific storytelling.
  • Familiarity with financial literacy topics and social media trends in the financial education space, including how creators and organizations engage audiences around money, personal finance, and economic issues.
  • Strong editorial judgment and a solid understanding of journalistic standards, accuracy, and fact-checking practices.
  • Genuine interest in how economic news and financial topics affect people's everyday lives, with the ability to translate complex subjects into accessible, relatable content.
  • Excellent social copywriting skills, including the ability to write compelling headlines, captions, scripts, hooks, and concise audience-facing messages.
  • Strong understanding of social media trends, publishing strategies, and best practices, particularly for video-first platforms such as TikTok and YouTube.
  • Proficiency with video editing and visual production tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable software.
  • Experience using social media analytics and audience insights to measure performance, evaluate engagement, and optimize content strategies.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside editorial and creative teams.
  • A proactive, accountable, and solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize competing responsibilities, and consistently deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong creative instincts and an understanding of the formats, storytelling techniques, and visual approaches that resonate with social media audiences.
  • Ability and willingness to appear on camera or support the direction and editing of on-camera content as needed.
  • Experience with social media management platforms such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Buffer, or Later is preferred.
  • Familiarity with public media and approaches to economic journalism is an advantage.
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the United States is required. Visa sponsorship or transfer of employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
