Operations Manager

American Leak Detection of Colorado

Location: Denver, Colorado (overseeing Denver and Colorado Springs)

Job Type: Full-Time | Management

Compensation: $95,000–$105,000 base salary, plus performance-based bonus opportunities of $15,000–$25,000 annually.

About American Leak Detection

American Leak Detection is a recognized leader in non-invasive leak detection services, helping residential, commercial, and municipal customers identify and resolve complex water leaks.

Our Colorado operation provides specialized leak detection, plumbing repairs, pool leak detection, and related services throughout the state.

We are seeking an experienced, motivated General Manager to lead our Denver and Colorado Springs operations. This is an opportunity for a proven leader to take ownership of daily operations, develop a strong team, improve profitability, and help grow an established service business.

About the Position

We are looking for a hands-on, results-driven General Manager who can lead people, solve problems, and take accountability for business performance.

The ideal candidate understands how to run a profitable service operation, manage employees, improve productivity, and create systems that ensure consistent execution.

This is not simply an office management position. The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, financial performance, customer service, field productivity, and business growth.

The position reports directly to ownership and will have significant autonomy in managing operations and implementing improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations across Denver and Colorado Springs.
  • Ensure scheduling, dispatching, customer service, invoicing, and administrative workflows operate efficiently.
  • Establish clear expectations and accountability for office personnel, field supervisors, and technicians.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical solutions.
  • Ensure customer emails, voicemails, and service requests are addressed promptly.
  • Monitor outstanding work orders, technician reports, and customer follow-ups.
  • Coordinate with field leadership to maintain productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Financial Performance & Profitability

  • Take ownership of operational financial performance, including revenue, expenses, labor efficiency, and profitability.
  • Review financial reports, operating budgets, and key performance indicators.
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins, reduce unnecessary expenses, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Monitor technician productivity, average ticket values, repair opportunities, and service profitability.
  • Establish performance goals and regularly report results to ownership.
  • Develop and execute strategies for profitable business growth.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and hold office staff, supervisors, and technicians accountable for performance.
  • Oversee recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and employee development.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Work with field supervisors to improve technician productivity, training, and workmanship.
  • Build a culture of accountability, communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Address employee performance issues promptly and professionally.

Administrative & Financial Oversight

  • Oversee timely and accurate invoicing for completed work.
  • Coordinate payroll preparation, production reporting, and payroll accuracy.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and ensure timely collection follow-up.
  • Manage equipment, inventory, purchasing, and maintenance procedures.
  • Establish processes to ensure administrative work is completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain organized records and consistent operational reporting.

Business Growth & Customer Experience

  • Identify opportunities to expand service revenue and increase profitable repair work.
  • Improve conversion of leak detection opportunities into appropriate repair services.
  • Maintain strong relationships with commercial customers, property managers, and referral partners.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction, complaints, callbacks, and service quality.
  • Collaborate with ownership on business development initiatives and growth strategies.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of management experience, preferably in a field-service or skilled-trades business.
  • Demonstrated experience managing employees and improving operational performance.
  • Strong understanding of business financials, including P&L statements, budgets, labor costs, and profitability.
  • Proven ability to prioritize responsibilities, delegate effectively, and hold teams accountable.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with business management software, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work primarily on-site in Denver and travel to Colorado Springs as needed.

Preferred:

  • Experience in plumbing, HVAC, restoration, construction services, or a similar industry.
  • Experience managing multiple locations or service territories.
  • Familiarity with field-service management and CRM software.
  • Experience improving technician utilization, service profitability, and operational processes.
  • Background in growing a service business and developing supervisors or management teams.

Direct experience in leak detection is not required. We value proven leadership, operational discipline, and business management experience.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first year, the General Manager will be expected to:

  • Independently manage daily Front Range operations with minimal involvement from ownership.
  • Establish consistent administrative processes and reliable customer response times.
  • Improve technician productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain strong customer satisfaction and service quality.
  • Develop and maintain an accountable, high-performing team.
  • Increase profitability through improved financial and operational management.
  • Implement measurable performance standards across the operation.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for sustainable business growth.

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary with performance-based earning potential.
  • Significant leadership responsibility and decision-making authority.
  • Opportunity to lead and grow an established service business.
  • Direct access to ownership and involvement in strategic decisions.
  • An experienced technical team and an established customer base.
  • Opportunity for long-term professional growth.

Who Will Succeed in This Role?

We are looking for someone who takes ownership rather than waiting for direction.

Someone who recognizes a problem, develops a solution, and follows through.

Someone who is comfortable having difficult conversations, developing employees, reviewing financial performance, and making decisions.

Most importantly, we want a leader who takes pride in building a profitable, organized, and well-run business.

If you have successfully managed a service operation, enjoy developing people, and are motivated by measurable business results, we encourage you to apply.

American Leak Detection of Colorado is committed to equal employment opportunity and considers applicants based on qualifications and job-related criteria.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
