Job Description

1. Position Summary

The ESS Specifications, Standards & Guidelines serves as the operational and technical documentation to the Engineering Technical Authority team. This role helps ensure that Engineering Specifications, Standards and Guidelines remain current, internally consistent, easier to find, and better aligned with applicable industry standards and recognized engineering practices.

The resource will work closely with ETA subject matter experts (SMEs), document owners, to coordinate document updates, support the development of new ESS documents, maintain search and access capabilities, and cascade changes through the EDL platform and established communications.

2. Key Responsibilities

ESS Maintenance & Industry Alignment: Maintain assigned Amgen Engineering Specifications, Standards and Guidelines and coordinate periodic reviews to improve clarity, consistency, usability, and alignment with applicable industry standards and engineering practices.

SME Document Revision Support: Provide hands-on support to ETA SMEs during document updates and revisions, including document control coordination, incorporation of SME comments, formatting, reference checking, revision history, review-cycle tracking, and preparation for approval.

New ESS Development: Support ETA in the development of new Specifications, Standards and Guidelines by coordinating inputs, facilitating working sessions, organizing source material, and progressing drafts through the established review and approval process.

ESS Change Cascade & Communications: Cascade information on new and updated ESS documents to ETA and the broader engineering community through the EDL platform and agreed communication channels. Maintain concise change summaries, effective dates, links to current documents, and communication records.

Governance & Coordination: Maintain a practical ESS tracker and review calendar; monitor document status, owners, planned revisions, approvals, and publication; identify overdue or high-priority actions; and provide routine status reporting to ETA leadership.

3. EDL Platform & Communication Support

The resource will maintain the operational interface for ESS updates in the EDL environment, including the established "Updated ESS Documents" SharePoint list and related communication process.

· Post or coordinate publication of approved ESS changes in accordance with ETA governance.

· Prepare short, user-focused update messages covering document title, revision, change summary, effective date, impacted audience, and link to the current version.

· Maintain a communication record so ETA can confirm that updates were cascaded to the intended engineering audience.

4. Interfaces & Collaboration

Primary interfaces include ETA Technical Authorities and SMEs, Engineering discipline leads, Facilities/Utilities, project engineering teams, Quality/Validation stakeholders as applicable, document owners, and digital/knowledge-management platform support. The resource is expected to work hybrid time zones and maintain a predictable communication rhythm with global stakeholders.

5. Working Hours & Global Collaboration Model

The role should be structured to provide reliable support to U.S., Europe, and Asia stakeholders. The working model may be established as Hybrid. The selected model should preserve protected time for focused document work while providing planned overlap for SME reviews, global meetings, and ESS change communications.

Best when on-site ETA/SME interaction is important while retaining global collaboration flexibility.

6. Skills & Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical communications, information management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

· Experience working with engineering standards, specifications, procedures, technical documentation, or controlled document systems in a regulated or highly structured environment.

· Strong technical writing, editing, document-control, and information-organization skills.

· Ability to work effectively with subject matter experts and translate technical inputs into clear, usable document content without changing technical intent.

· Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, document libraries, metadata/search concepts, and collaboration tools or equivalent engineering knowledge platforms is desirable.

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple document revisions, deadlines, reviewers, and approvals simultaneously.

· Comfort working across global time zones and adjusting meeting windows when critical SME or stakeholder participation is required.

· Working knowledge of how external codes, standards, and industry guidance influence engineering requirements; the role is expected to coordinate and research, while technical ownership remains with the designated ETA SME.

7. Role Boundaries

This resource supports the ETA team but does not replace the technical authority of the designated ETA SME or document owner. Technical decisions, interpretations of requirements, approvals, and final release authority remain with the assigned Amgen technical and governance owners.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
