Company Overview

Amperesand is reinventing how the world powers its most critical systems.

We are facing a once-in-a-generation opportunity for infrastructure disruption. Electricity demand is skyrocketing, driven by AI factories, electric vehicles, and modern industrial growth. Energy supply is shifting to incorporate a more diverse mix of resources – including solar, gas, and batteries – at a massive scale.

And yet the power infrastructure behind our latest mega-projects hasn’t meaningfully changed in nearly 100 years. Supply chains for today’s infrastructure equipment can’t match the pace and sophistication of critical energy projects. Amperesand is building hardware and software that rewrites this broken power infrastructure playbook to support a new era of energy abundance.

We’ve built a new class of intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products leveraging a decade of advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer research that’s now ready for commercial deployment.

Our products and solutions go far beyond the capabilities of traditional electrical equipment. We make power systems that are faster to deploy, dramatically smaller and more efficient, and capable of supporting modern, dynamic energy needs for tomorrow’s most demanding energy consumers.

Scalable in-house advanced manufacturing capability is our foundation for meeting timeline and quality expectation to serve infrastructure customers around the world.

Amperesand is led by breakthrough energy hardware development veterans and funded by top tier investors who share our vision of building a category-defining energy technology company.

With hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, our global team is laser focused on building foundational technology to solve the most pressing problems in power infrastructure at scale.

Join us in building the power foundation of the future!

About Amperesand

Amperesand is building next-generation power infrastructure systems for Data Centers, EV charging platforms, and future energy applications. Our systems combine advanced power electronics, embedded controls, and scalable energy architectures to rethink how power is converted, controlled, and deployed.

About the Role

Amperesand is seeking a Staff or Sr. Staff Applications Engineer, Grid Integration to join the Deployment team as the primary technical authority on interconnection of Amperesand customer projects. You’ll be the primary Amperesand interface for any external organizations working on interconnection of Amperesand customer projects such as EPCs and Utilities. You’ll partner closely with the Product team and Controls team to validate and develop our PSCAD, PSSE, and other product electrical models. You’ll utilize PSCAD, PSSE, and other product electrical models to study facility architectures and develop reference architectures. You’ll own the customer-sharable electrical system model package, and guide customers in usage of the models. Additionally, you’ll be a key customer interface in evaluating new product application opportunities and lead our investigation of intergration with (or obfuscation of) neighboring medium voltage electrical infrastructure. You’ll be the strategic lead identifying and defining product applications in the Utility sector while tracking Utility sector trends such as large load flexibility. You’ll partner with our Product and Compliance team to ensure Amperesand products meet applicable Utility/ISO/RTO requirements such as ride-through requirements. You’ll interface with national laboratories and other researchers and author technical whitepapers. You’ll occasionally provide on-site oversight of product deployment to ensure product installation and integration success. • Validate the PSCAD, PSSE, and other product electrical models produced by the Controls team, ensuring EMT models agree with EMS, ensuring they work for representative system architectures, and ensuring they meet the requirements set by the Product team.
  • Utilize PSCAD, PSSE, and other product electrical models to study, develop, and optimize reference architectures applicable to Amperesand’s customer base.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive technical package including documentation, test results, and electrical system models to be utilized by Amperesand customers, EPCs, and Utilities. Guide these entities in the usage of the this technical package, ensuring smooth interconnection of all Amperesand projects.
  • Interact with Utilities, National Labs, researchers to analyze the utility sector and be a leading strategic voice on how to address needs in the Utility sector.
  • Partner with Amperesand’s Policy lead to track policy changes related to large load connections, including load flexibility requirements, and translate implications into technical and product guidance.
  • Support Amperesand’s product team to catalog product requirements related to grid connections, including ride-through requirements, grid codes, etc.
  • Partner with Amperesand Sales, Customer Programs, Product, Engineering, Compliance teams to land projects, then ensure product deployment excellence.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
