POSITION SUMMARY The Assistant Controller is a senior accounting leader responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery of the Company's financial reporting. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position performs duties aligned with a Controller role, including ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close; financial statement preparation and analysis; general ledger governance; inventory and cost accounting; internal controls; audits; compliance; and development of the accounting team. The Assistant Controller serves as the CFO/Business Unit Controller’s primary accounting partner, provides decision-ready financial insight, and has authority to establish accounting procedures, assign work, resolve routine accounting matters, and escalate significant judgments, risks, or policy decisions to the CFO/Business Unit Controller. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, including the close calendar, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, eliminations, consolidations, and management review schedules. Prepare and review accurate, timely financial statements and reporting packages in accordance with U.S. GAAP, Company policies, and corporate reporting requirements; explain significant results, trends, and variances to the Controller and business leaders. Own the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts, including accounting policy application, balance-sheet substantiation, intercompany activity, revenue recognition, reserves, and other significant or non-routine transactions. Oversee manufacturing accounting, including inventory valuation and reserves, standard costs, bills of material, labor and overhead rates, cost rolls, production and purchase variances, cycle counts, and physical inventory results. Maintain a strong internal-control environment by documenting processes, establishing review controls, monitoring segregation of duties, testing key controls, and leading corrective actions for identified deficiencies. Coordinate external, internal, and corporate audits; manage requests, supporting schedules, issue resolution, and remediation plans while maintaining complete and audit-ready documentation. Lead corporate compliance and recurring assessment activities assigned to Finance, including hard-close requirements, policy certifications, and other corporate reporting submissions. Partner with the Controller on capital expenditures, and financial modeling; identify risks and opportunities and recommend actions. Oversee accounting operations and service levels across areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and treasury activities, whether performed directly or through assigned team members. Coach, develop, and hold accounting team members accountable; set priorities, review work, cross-train responsibilities, and build succession and backup coverage for critical processes. Administer and improve financial systems, reporting tools, master data, and accounting workflows; partner with IT and process owners to strengthen data quality, access controls, automation, and scalability. Evaluate new accounting guidance, business arrangements, contracts, and operational changes; document conclusions and recommend appropriate accounting treatment and controls. Protect confidential information, exercise sound professional judgment, and perform special projects or other duties assigned by the Controller.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's degree preferred. CPA or CMA strongly preferred. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant responsibility for financial close, financial reporting, general ledger, internal controls, and audit support. Three or more years of leadership or supervisory experience, with demonstrated ability to review work, develop employees, and manage recurring deadlines. Manufacturing and cost-accounting experience required, including inventory, standard costing, and variance analysis. Experience in a multi-location or public-company environment, and experience with corporate reporting and compliance requirements, strongly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to research and document complex accounting matters.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data validation, and financial modeling; proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Advanced working knowledge of ERP and financial reporting systems; experience with Epicor or comparable manufacturing ERP systems preferred. Ability to use business-intelligence, data-query, and automation tools to improve reporting accuracy, visibility, and efficiency.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS Work requires extended periods of sitting, computer use, data review, typing, and participation in meetings. The position requires sustained attention to detail, analysis of complex information, sound judgment, management of competing priorities, and the ability to meet recurring deadlines. The employee must be able to communicate effectively and occasionally lift or move standard office materials. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed primarily in an office setting with periodic time in manufacturing, warehouse, or other operational areas. The role may require compliance with site safety and personal protective equipment requirements. Occasional travel to Company locations may be required. Additional hours may be necessary during month-end and year-end close, budgets, audits, physical inventories, system implementations, or other critical deadlines. Onsite requirements or hybrid flexibility will be determined by the Company and HR based on business needs. COMPENSATION Pay Range: $150,000 - $165,000/year Status: Exempt Other Compensation Offered: This position may be eligible for annual bonus pay based on Company performance.
