MEMBER OF TECHNICAL STAFF, MARKETPLACE

Location: North America Remote / San Francisco, CA · Full-Time

ABOUT ANDROMEDA

Andromeda is a market and infrastructure platform to buy, sell, and operate compute.

We believe demand for compute will grow exponentially. So fast that a handful of vertically integrated providers won't be able to scale across operations, capital, supply chains, and politics to serve it. The result is a massive wave of fragmentation, with AI factories of every shape and size coming to market to fill this demand. Our job is to enable all of that fragmented compute to flow through one platform, delivering reliable capacity to model builders, research labs, and inference providers when they need it. We believe every spare electron should be made productive for AI and we're building the platform that makes that possible.

We sit at the center of three forces:

- Companies that need reliable, high-performance compute fast

- A fragmented global supply of GPUs across hyperscalers, neoclouds, and independent data centers

- Capital, risk, and operational complexity that most teams are not equipped to manage

When we succeed, trillions of dollars of compute will flow through Andromeda. Builders get capacity when they need it. Providers get a reliable way to monetize, operate, and finance infrastructure at scale. Capital gets an easy way to deploy, hedge, and underwrite.

In five years, Andromeda won't just participate in the AI infrastructure market. We will shape it.

THE ROLE

You will own the marketplace where AI labs buy compute and where providers and other labs sell it. A buyer goes from sign-up to running GPUs without a sales call and pays the market rate. A seller lists capacity and earns money for every hour sold.

Today our team still writes quotes, matches payments, and sends payouts by hand. Your job is to turn it into software. Every dollar that moves through Andromeda moves through what you build, so every charge and payout has to be correct before it ships. A double charge costs us a lab's trust, and a missed payout costs us a provider.

You will design the data model, the service, and the API, and build enough of the front end to ship the feature yourself. Most of the work is backend, in Go and Postgres, with a TypeScript console on top. You work with our product engineers, design, and finance, carry a pager, and talk to the labs and providers who use what you ship.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

- Buying and selling: How buyers find, reserve, and pay for capacity, and how sellers list it, across on-demand, preemptible, and term.

- Payments and billing: Credits, payments, invoices, and payouts, all in one ledger that finance closes the books on.

- Pricing: Prices move with supply and demand, and no one sets a price by hand.

- Every seller on one market: Providers list new capacity, and buyers relist hours they do not use, so other buyers have more to choose from.

- Leading the team: As the team grows, you can lead it.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Impressive technical work you can go deep on, with impact in the world. That can take three years or twenty.

- You have built systems that move money: Billing, payments, invoicing, wallets, or a ledger, in production, and you know how they fail.

- Correctness by design: You design idempotency, reconciliation, and an audit trail in from the start.

- Backend depth: You have shipped production services and APIs in Go, or you have the systems background to ship production Go within your first month.

- Enough front end to ship: You build the front end for each feature you own.

- Production on-call experience: You have carried a pager for a system customers depend on, and made it quieter afterward.

- You ship in ambiguity: You go from a customer problem and a rough sketch to a working product on your own.

NOT A FIT

- Front end only: Most of this role is backend and data modeling.

- You need a spec: Requirements here arrive as a customer problem and a rough sketch.

- Close enough on money: If an invoice that is off by a cent does not bother you, this is the wrong team.

- You want to manage before you build: Leads here earn the role by shipping.

STRONG CANDIDATES MAY HAVE

- Marketplace experience: Two-sided marketplaces, ads systems, or exchanges, where pricing and matching set what each side pays and earns.

- Payments platforms: Stripe or similar integrations, metered usage, and credits.

- Finance-grade systems: Double-entry ledgers, the month-end close, or audit.

- Developer products: Technical B2B products where the user is an engineer.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT HERE

- You own the system that charges every buyer and pays every seller.

- We are a unicorn, and our customers are leading AI labs and data centers in one of the fastest-growing markets on earth.

- Small senior team, a seat at the table with leadership, and impact measured in days, not quarters.

- Competitive pay and meaningful equity, plus comprehensive benefits for you and your dependents, including healthcare, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), and unlimited PTO.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
