About your future employer

Our client is building a new Shared Services Centre in Poland as part of its Global Finance organisation. You’ll join the Centre of Excellence team and work in an international environment, supporting global freight audit and accounts payable processes.

Accounts Payable Specialist – Freight Audit

We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist – Freight Audit to join the team responsible for the accurate and timely validation of global freight and transportation invoices.

In this role, you’ll verify freight charges against contracted rates, tariffs and shipment data, investigate billing discrepancies and coordinate dispute resolution with logistics providers. You’ll work closely with Accounts Payable, Procurement, Logistics and Finance teams to prevent overpayments, improve cost transparency and ensure compliance with established processes.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in Accounts Payable, invoice verification or logistics finance who enjoys analytical work, solving discrepancies and contributing to process improvements in an international environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end audits of global freight and transportation invoices across different modes of transport, including road, air, ocean, parcel and intermodal shipments.
  • Validate freight charges against contractual rates, rate cards, tariffs, shipment data and goods receipt records.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, duplicate charges, incorrect rates, missing shipment references and unjustified surcharges.
  • Initiate and manage disputes with logistics providers to ensure incorrect charges are resolved.
  • Ensure accurate invoice coding, posting and tax treatment in line with established procedures.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Procurement, Logistics and Finance teams to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure smooth process execution.
  • Monitor open audit cases, ageing exceptions, blocked invoices and unresolved disputes.
  • Track freight audit KPIs, including audit coverage, accuracy rates and identified savings.
  • Analyse freight spend patterns and identify opportunities for cost optimisation.
  • Support the implementation, maintenance and effective use of freight audit tools and systems.
  • Maintain freight rate cards, carrier master data, audit rules and tolerance thresholds.
  • Contribute to the standardisation and harmonisation of global freight audit processes.
  • Support the improvement of controls, automation logic and standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare regular reports and provide insights into audit results, discrepancies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, financial controls and agreed business rules.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Accounts Payable, invoice processing, freight audit, logistics finance or a related Finance area.
  • Good understanding of invoice verification, invoice matching and discrepancy resolution processes.
  • Knowledge of logistics processes, shipment flows, transport documentation, freight rates and Incoterms.
  • Familiarity with freight cost structures, including base rates, fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, customs-related fees, detention and demurrage.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP, and invoice validation tools.
  • Familiarity with dedicated freight audit solutions, such as NVision or Tetrix, would be an advantage.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage high volumes of transactions while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • A process-oriented mindset and willingness to challenge existing practices and support continuous improvement.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external logistics providers.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of additional languages would be an advantage.

We offer

  • The opportunity to join a new Shared Services Centre and contribute to the development of its Finance operations.
  • An international working environment within the Global Finance organisation.
  • The opportunity to develop your expertise in Accounts Payable, freight audit and logistics finance.
  • Exposure to global transportation processes and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Opportunities to contribute to process standardisation, automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • The opportunity to work with specialised freight audit tools and global financial processes.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
