We are looking for a self-starter with strong cabling expertise who can help raise operational standards and improve how we deliver infrastructure services.

Description

The Data Center Operations group is looking for a Data Center Engineer. This is a physical, on-site position requiring hands-on work within a data center environment, including cabling, equipment racking, and hardware troubleshooting. The successful candidate will be responsible for deploying and maintaining servers, networking equipment and other devices together with installing and supporting fiber and copper infrastructure in our Data Centers located in Japan and South Korea.

Responsibilities

Manage cabling infrastructure and DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) elements; perform hardware installations, testing, and troubleshooting using standard data center processes, including physically moving and racking servers, network switches, and storage devices. Assess and triage incoming work requests, then plan and prioritize service delivery across the ticket queue. Execute ticket-driven tasks such as power cycles, component swaps, storage media handling and cabling requests. Support inventory/asset management, including shipping, receiving, and maintaining accurate records in asset-tracking systems. Manage third-party/remote-hands vendor work, holding them accountable to technical and quality standards. Identify issues and perform Root Cause Analysis to prevent future operational impacts, maintaining strong attention to detail and documentation throughout. Establish and enhance strong working relationships with internal teams and external suppliers to support a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience (3+ years) with progressive responsibilities within an international, multi-cultural, multi-location organization. Expertise with data center operational tasks, including rack sizing, construction, installation, and decommissioning. Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and moving equipment in accordance with applicable local labor safety standards; reasonable accommodation available upon request. Hands-on experience with installing, testing, and troubleshooting copper and fiber cabling, and capable of designing cable infrastructure layouts to industry standards. Expertise in diagnosing and resolving hardware faults through breakfix and incident management. Experience with DCIM tools. Hands-on operations in securing and monitoring equipment with enterprise level management tools. Proficient in English (preferably Eiken level 2 or above). Test scores are a good guide, but it’s your willingness and ability to work in a multilingual, multicultural environment that’s most important. Must be eligible to work in Japan at time of application.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical certifications preferred (e.g. CDCP, CDCDP, CompTIA, BICSI, IDCA qualifications) or related experience. Self-motivated and the ability to take direction with minimal supervision and capable of independent problem solving. Strong communicator at all levels with excellent oral and written skills to a variety of audiences. Willingness to occasionally travel within and outside of Japan and provide on-call / out of business hours support to respond to and resolve urgent business issues. Proven ability to manage key stakeholder interests while at the same time managing conflicting priorities and business interests. Knowledge of safety procedures, established techniques, and equipment. Japanese (preferably JLPT N2 or above) would also be a bonus.

EEO Statement

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
