The posting

Summary

The Product & Design team for Apple Media Services is seeking an experienced Human Interface Designer to own visual specification and design-to-engineering hand-off across multiple products, including all Apple platforms and additional 3rd-party platforms as needed. Familiarity building components and working within design system architecture is strongly desired. As part of a small, high-impact team supporting some of Apple's most actively evolving consumer apps, your ability to bring order and clarity to fast-moving, ambiguous work will directly shape the experience used by millions of people every day.

Description

The ideal candidate is an independent, technically proficient designer who can own a broad, fast-moving workspace with minimal oversight, determining how to approach ambiguous problems and driving them to resolution across teams.

Partnering closely with product designers, producers, and engineering leads, you'll catch changes early and keep implementation documented and intentional rather than ad hoc, while translating design intent, including custom and one-off requests, into precise, engineering-ready specifications.

This is a role focused on being the source of truth for visual specifications as our apps evolve: producing detailed design deliverables for engineering, covering spacing, sizing, type tokens, materials, assets, variants and more, while maintaining and expanding our design system's libraries and upholding consistency across platforms with rigor and discernment. You'll also manage your own queue of competing priorities, negotiating scope and timeline tradeoffs as needed. Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills are a must, along with the ability to navigate rapid change and ambiguity.

You are a clear, direct communicator who proactively surfaces problems and drives solutions across teams. As our scope grows, you'll also help set the bar for quality across the team, coaching less experienced designers where it's useful.

Minimum Qualifications

Several years of professional experience in production design, UX design, or a closely related design-operations role, with experience working across multiple platforms simultaneously Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex, ambiguous problems and drive solutions across teams with minimal guidance Fluent in Figma, including component libraries, design tokens, and variables; comfortable working within and extending an existing design system Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to collaborate effectively across designers, engineers, and other cross-functional partners Strong organizational skills combined with a proven ability to juggle multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced design studio Experience translating fast-changing, sometimes non-standard design intent into clear, implementation-ready specs Portfolio demonstrating spec and documentation work on shipped products, not just visual design

Preferred Qualifications

Established expertise in production design, with the range to expand into adjacent design and production disciplines Experience mentoring or guiding less experienced designers Desire to keep up with emerging technology, including AI tools (e.g., Claude, GPT, or similar), to enhance design and production workflows Prior experience supporting a media/entertainment or content-heavy app Native app development experience (e.g., Swift, SwiftUI) is a plus, helping bridge design intent and implementation Degree in related field of study or equivalent experience

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
