Role Overview
We are looking for a visionary Engineering leader who will be responsible for building and leading a world-class team of software engineers to drive end-to-end technical design, platform innovation, and execution across multiple on-premises and cloud-native SaaS applications. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in modern engineering practices, Agentic AI, and platform engineering — and will play a pivotal role in shaping AppViewX's next-generation product strategy.
What You Will Be Responsible For
Engineering Leadership & Culture
- Lead and manage the product engineering team, providing strategic guidance, mentorship, and motivation to foster a high-performance, collaborative engineering culture.
- Set and champion engineering best practices — including coding standards, code reviews, CI/CD, TDD, and operational excellence — across all teams.
- Exert broad technical influence across multiple teams, driving productivity and effectiveness through deep domain expertise and hands-on leadership.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation, intellectual curiosity, and continuous learning — rapidly integrating emerging technologies and methodologies into day-to-day engineering work.
Product & Platform Engineering
- Own and drive the Product Engineering charter to accelerate engineering velocity and reduce cognitive load across product teams.
- Work with Platform Engineering leaders to contribute platform development including internal developer platforms (IDP), developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, observability frameworks, and self-service capabilities
- Scope and author technical plans for complex, large-scale features spanning multiple teams and release cycles; accurately track and report project and feature status at the executive level and release management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including Product Management, Design, and Quality Assurance — to ensure seamless product development and timely, high-quality delivery.
- Be forward-looking on customer needs and technology trends to architect solutions that serve a wide variety of enterprise use cases at scale.
Agentic AI & AI-Driven Engineering
- Drive the Agentic AI strategy for the engineering organization — identifying opportunities to embed autonomous AI agents across product workflows, developer tooling, and customer-facing capabilities.
- Lead the adoption of AI-assisted development practices — including AI code generation, automated testing, intelligent code review, and LLM-powered developer productivity tools — to meaningfully accelerate the engineering lifecycle.
- Architect and oversee the integration of AI/ML capabilities — including large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and multi-agent frameworks — into AppViewX products, particularly within the AIS (AI Security) product line.
- Stay at the forefront of Agentic AI developments (LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, OpenAI Assistants API, etc.) and evaluate their applicability to AppViewX's product and platform roadmap.
- Partner with Product Management to define AI-powered features that create meaningful differentiation and deliver measurable customer value.
Strategy & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with senior engineering leaders to formulate and execute comprehensive technology roadmaps aligned with company strategy and market direction.
- Collaborate across the organization to craft and deliver solutions that consistently exceed customer expectations.
- Drive the transition to feature-based, on-demand release models — enabling greater delivery velocity, release predictability, and customer alignment.
- Partner with Security, DevOps, and SRE teams to ensure platform reliability, security posture, and compliance standards are maintained at the highest level.
What We Require
Experience & Leadership
- 20+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with a significant portion in senior engineering leadership roles.
- Proven track record of leading and scaling high-performing engineering teams, with a strong focus on driving innovation, accountability, and results.
- Experience working in a product development company in the Application Security, Identity, or Infrastructure domain is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, build from the ground up, and deliver in fast-moving, high-growth environments.
Technical Depth
- Deep expertise in SaaS architecture, microservices, Kubernetes, MongoDB, and cloud-native application development.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Agentic AI frameworks and LLM integration — including LangChain, AutoGen, OpenAI APIs, RAG pipelines, and multi-agent orchestration patterns.
- Solid understanding of Platform Engineering principles — including internal developer platforms, GitOps, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), observability (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana), and developer experience (DevEx) optimization.
- Full working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies, software engineering principles, design patterns, and enterprise product development practices.
- Strong command of software engineering best practices — coding standards, code reviews, SCM, CI/CD, build processes, testing strategies, and production operations.
- Strong foundations in Data Structures, Algorithms, Problem-solving, and Computer Science fundamentals.
- Proponent of TDD and CI — capable of inspiring and motivating teams to adopt and sustain these practices.
Leadership & Communication
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills — with the ability to operate with clarity and conviction across engineering teams, executive leadership, and customers.
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving skills with a bias for action in fast-moving, high-stakes environments.
- Results-oriented with the ability to balance long-term strategic vision with near-term execution and delivery.
