Job Description

The Transportation‑Direction department of Aurora Public Schools Adams‑Arapahoe 28J is seeking a TRS:Scheduler to manage daily bus routes, optimize travel times, and uphold safety standards. This position replaces Marisela Navarro, whose last day is October 30, 2026, as she moves to a new role at M&O. The Scheduler will work closely with drivers, administrators, and families to deliver reliable transportation for all students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain daily bus routes and schedules for all student routes.
  • Adjust routes based on enrollment changes, construction, and special events.
  • Coordinate with drivers, school administrators, and parents to resolve scheduling issues.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with state and district transportation regulations.
  • Utilize routing software and GPS data to optimize travel times and fuel usage.
  • Prepare and distribute route maps, stop lists, and rider assignments.
  • Conduct regular audits of route efficiency and safety.
  • Respond to emergency situations and re‑route buses as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and driver hours.
  • Provide training and support to new drivers and staff on scheduling procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; associate’s degree in transportation, logistics, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in transportation scheduling or route planning.
  • Proficiency with routing software (e.g., RouteFinder, Transfinder) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of Colorado student transportation regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and occasional evenings.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Commitment to student safety and confidentiality.
