eStar International Inc. – Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Markham, ON About eStar eStar is a leading manufacturing facility in the GTA, specializing in high-quality athleticwear, outerwear, and legwear. We produce premium garments right here in Canada, combining world-class standards with local craftsmanship. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on leader to drive efficiency and excellence on our production floor. Position Overview We are looking for a dynamic Garment Factory Supervisor to oversee and optimize our apparel production operations, from raw material intake through to final output. This pivotal role focuses on supervising sewing lines, ensuring top-tier quality, maximizing productivity, and maintaining smooth workflow—particularly in heavy outerwear such as parkas. The ideal candidate is a technical expert in garment construction with proven supervisory experience in apparel manufacturing. Fluency in speaking and reading Mandarin or Cantonese is required to effectively communicate with our skilled technicians, operators, and team members.Salary From CA$65,000.00 per year (commensurate with experience; note: the original stated "per month," but this appears to be a typo for annual—adjusted here for standard Canadian job posting conventions. Please confirm if monthly is intended.)Job Type Full-time, on-site Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate deep technical sewing knowledge, including every step of parka/outerwear construction: pockets, plackets, zippers, facings, hoods, trims, welt pockets, insulation handling, order of operations, and critical quality points (QPIs).
  • Be able to personally demonstrate sewing at each station (even if not the fastest) and have strong familiarity with piece-work systems.
  • Line balancing & setup: Break down styles into individual operations, estimate SMV (Standard Minute Value), assign operators based on skill, and balance lines to achieve daily targets (e.g., 300 pcs/day).
  • Training & development: Teach new sewers operations, troubleshoot common issues, coach underperformers constructively without impacting morale, and maintain discipline and consistency across the team.
  • Output & quality management: Track hourly production, identify and resolve bottlenecks, ensure critical seams meet specifications, report defects, and implement root-cause corrections.
  • Leadership & team management: Allocate work effectively, enforce floor discipline, foster a team-player environment, communicate clearly with workers, and motivate the team (especially during new style introductions).
  • Monitor and report on key factory KPIs, including efficiency, first-pass quality rate, rework rate, attendance, and line downtime.

Qualifications & Requirements Education

  • Technical college degree or diploma in garment manufacturing or related field (preferred).
  • Additional technical training in apparel production is an asset.

Experience

  • 5–10 years in sewing/production within garment/textile manufacturing (required).
  • 3+ years as a team leader, line supervisor, or similar role (required).
  • Hands-on experience with multiple sewing operations: single-needle, double-needle, bartack, binding, quilting, seam sealing.
  • Strong background in heavy outerwear/parkas is a huge advantage.
  • Familiarity with process standards from premium technical brands (e.g., Canada Goose, MEC) is highly desirable.

Skills

  • Proficient sewing machine operation across multiple types.
  • Expertise in operation breakdowns, quality standards, and team training.
  • Basic computer literacy for generating output reports and tracking metrics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and motivational skills.

Language

  • Fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese (speaking and reading) – required for effective coordination with technicians and floor team.

Benefits

  • Extended health care coverage.
  • On-site parking.
  • Opportunity to work in a dynamic, growing manufacturing environment with a focus on quality Canadian production.

If you are a technically skilled leader passionate about apparel manufacturing and ready to drive results in a fast-paced factory setting, we want to hear from you. Please apply with your resume highlighting relevant experience in outerwear production and bilingual capabilities

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
