The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an IOTA Senior Designer based in the United States.

Take on a key role in transforming facility requirements into functional, accessible, and well-coordinated interior spaces for a federal healthcare facility project. As an IOTA Senior Designer, you will lead interior design, space planning, and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) coordination to support facility outfitting and activation. You will collaborate with facility stakeholders, project managers, transition planners, and installation teams to translate operational needs into practical design and installation documentation. Your work will help ensure that room layouts, furniture selections, casework, signage, and equipment arrangements meet functional and accessibility requirements. This remote opportunity includes occasional travel to Martinsburg, West Virginia, and is contingent upon the award of the relevant contract. The role is ideal for an experienced, NCIDQ-certified design professional who can coordinate complex facility requirements and support successful project delivery.

Accountabilities

  • Lead interior design and space-planning activities to support facility outfitting, operational readiness, and activation.
  • Review facility layouts, existing design documentation, and operational requirements to develop practical, functional design solutions.
  • Coordinate furniture, fixtures, equipment, casework, case goods, signage, and related interior design elements.
  • Translate stakeholder and facility requirements into detailed design, construction, furniture layout, and installation documentation.
  • Support the planning, selection, configuration, and placement of furniture and equipment to meet operational needs.
  • Collaborate with facility representatives and other stakeholders to validate room configurations, spatial requirements, and functional layouts.
  • Review proposed design changes and assess their impact on furniture arrangements, equipment placement, installation plans, and project schedules.
  • Prepare and review FF&E documentation, specifications, layouts, and installation requirements.
  • Identify potential design conflicts, accessibility issues, space constraints, and installation challenges, recommending solutions to support project objectives.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and Transition Planner to align design decisions, furniture installation, and facility activation milestones.
  • Support furniture delivery, installation coordination, inspections, and acceptance activities to help ensure completed work meets project requirements.
  • At least five years of professional experience in facility design.
  • Active National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification.
  • Demonstrated experience with administrative facility operations and the planning or coordination of furniture, fixtures, casework, case goods, and signage.
  • Proven ability to translate user requirements and operational needs into clear, accurate design, construction, and installation documentation.
  • Strong understanding of interior design principles, spatial planning, furniture layouts, and facility outfitting requirements.
  • Excellent coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify design conflicts and resolve installation constraints.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, facility stakeholders, planners, and installation teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage design documentation and coordinate requirements against project schedules.
  • Experience supporting Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare facilities or other federal facility design projects.
  • American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers (AAHID) certification.
  • Experience with furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) planning, specification development, and installation documentation.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or comparable design software.
  • Familiarity with VA space-planning standards, equipment-planning practices, and accessibility requirements.
  • Experience coordinating furniture procurement, delivery, installation, and acceptance.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to Martinsburg, West Virginia, as required by project activities.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and regularly use a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, or lift up to 15 pounds occasionally, with reasonable accommodations available where applicable.
  • Remote work arrangement, with occasional travel to Martinsburg, West Virginia.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a federal healthcare facility project focused on functional design, facility readiness, and operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborative work environment involving facility stakeholders, project managers, transition planners, and installation professionals.
  • Opportunity to apply specialized interior design and space-planning expertise to a complex facility outfitting initiative.
  • Employment is contingent upon the award of the relevant project contract.
  • Salary, healthcare coverage, retirement benefits, paid time off, and other compensation details were not specified in the provided job description.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
