About the assignment

We are looking for the Engineering Manager Building Services to lead engineering delivery for critical building services and installations within a major transformation program for fossil-free steel production. This role drives coordinated engineering efforts across HVAC, VVS, potable water, BMS integration and fire protection systems to ensure safe, cost-effective, and timely delivery of the Cold Mill Complex in Luleå. Profile: Experienced engineering leader with a pragmatic, hands-on approach and strong communication skills in both English and Swedish. Strategic thinker who coordinates complex interfaces while keeping safety, cost and constructability central to decisions. Collaborative and inclusive manager who thrives in multicultural project environments and supports growth of team members. Result-oriented project leader who can balance governance, technical depth and partner management to meet tight schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage engineering activities for large-scale brownfield and greenfield CAPEX projects, with primary focus on building services (ventilation, heating/VVS, potable water, fire protection) and BMS/HVAC integration.
  • Own interface coordination and constructability reviews (gransdragning) to identify clashes, reduce rework, and optimize plant layouts.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet safety, quality, regulatory, and project requirements throughout design, procurement and construction phases.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary project management across internal teams, external consultants, equipment suppliers and construction subcontractors.
  • Challenge design-to-cost proposals, support procurement alignment, and track engineering cost forecasts and performance.
  • Govern and support the Engineering Management Office to improve engineering support services, workflows and partner performance.
  • Drive technical decisions on HVAC, fire protection, BMS integration and plant equipment layouts with a focus on operational reliability and start-up readiness.
  • Follow up engineering schedules and ensure timely delivery of drawings, specifications and certifications required for construction and commissioning.
  • Mentor and lead engineering team members, promoting collaboration, safety-first culture and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Mandatory

  • Minimum 10 years industry experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on engineering leadership; minimum 5 years working in Sweden.
  • Proven track record managing large industrial projects (steel, pulp & paper, refinery, oil & gas or similar) with responsibility for engineering delivery.
  • Deep technical knowledge of HVAC systems, VVS, potable water systems, fire protection systems and BMS/HVAC integration applicable to Nordic conditions and standards.
  • Strong experience in interface coordination, constructability reviews and aligning technical requirements with project objectives.
  • Fluency in English and Swedish, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge forecasts, control engineering costs and drive on-time delivery from engineering partners.

Nice-to-have

  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, IPMA) or equivalent training.
  • Civil engineering experience or education related to heavy industry plant projects.
  • Experience with brownfield mill upgrades and start-up coordination in heavy process industries.
  • Familiarity with Swedish and European codes and standards for building services and industrial installations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
