This position is ideal for a technician who can work independently in the field while also being part of a team committed to safety, quality, and customer service.

Position Responsibilities

As a Fire Alarm Service Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing commercial fire alarm systems.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform inspections and testing of commercial fire alarm systems in accordance with applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, and local AHJ requirements.

• Troubleshoot fire alarm system troubles, supervisory conditions, ground faults, communication failures, device issues, and other system deficiencies.

• Diagnose system problems and complete necessary repairs.

• Replace and install fire alarm devices, modules, notification appliances, initiating devices, power supplies, batteries, and other system components.

• Perform system programming and configuration when qualified and authorized.

• Test completed repairs to verify proper system operation.

• Complete accurate inspection reports, service tickets, deficiency documentation, and repair records.

• Clearly communicate system conditions, deficiencies, and recommended repairs to customers and AFP management.

• Coordinate with customers, monitoring companies, inspectors, and other trades as necessary.

• Maintain an organized company vehicle, tools, equipment, and commonly used service materials.

• Follow applicable NFPA standards, local fire codes, manufacturer requirements, and company safety procedures.

• Participate in the company's on-call rotation and respond to emergency service calls as required.

• Provide professional and courteous customer service while representing Arapahoe Fire Protection in the field.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in inspecting, servicing, and troubleshooting commercial fire alarm systems.

• Strong understanding of conventional and addressable fire alarm systems.

• Ability to read fire alarm drawings, riser diagrams, sequence-of-operations documents, and wiring diagrams.

• Experience troubleshooting field wiring, initiating devices, notification appliances, modules, power supplies, communication equipment, and fire alarm control panels.

• Experience with multiple fire alarm manufacturers and platforms is strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements.

• Familiarity with local AHJ requirements in the Denver metro area and Colorado Springs is preferred.

Licensing & Certifications

• Current applicable Denver and/or Colorado Springs fire alarm licensing/certification is strongly preferred.

• Candidates who already hold qualifying licenses or certifications may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.

• NICET Fire Alarm Systems certification is preferred but not required depending on experience.

• Additional manufacturer certifications and fire alarm training are a plus.

What We're Looking For

The right candidate should have:

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• The ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong customer service skills and a professional attitude.

• Attention to detail and the ability to accurately document completed work.

• Basic computer and mobile-device skills for completing electronic reports and service documentation.

• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and testing equipment.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to work from ladders and in commercial mechanical and electrical spaces.

• A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Compensation

$30.00–$45.00 per hour, depending on experience, licensing, certifications, manufacturer training, and demonstrated fire alarm troubleshooting capabilities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
