Dometic is a global market leader in the mobile living industry. Millions of people around the world use Dometic products in outdoor, residential, and professional applications. We are on a growth journey – now looking for our next star – a passionate Master's Thesis student with a strong interest in human-centered design, user research, and innovation. Exploring new opportunities and transforming insights into impactful product experiences. You bring creativity, analytical thinking, and a drive to tackle complex challenges.

About the position

As a Master’s thesis student collaborating across Group Sustainability, Global Design, and Global Marketing, you will investigate how product design, consumer insights, brand positioning, and strategic partnerships can make outdoor products and experiences more accessible, relevant, inclusive, and desirable.

Women will serve as the primary research focus and starting point for uncovering overlooked needs and barriers. The ambition is not to design exclusively for women, but to translate these insights into inclusive solutions with broader market relevance. Building on recent Design for Inclusion research, consumer insights, and market segmentation, you will turn research findings into actionable recommendations for future product concepts, experiences, marketing strategies, and collaboration opportunities.

Duration: Planned for 6 months (Spring Semester) Team: Open to 1 or 2 students working together

Your main responsibilities

Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research with diverse user groups, with a particular focus on women, to understand needs, preferences, experiences, and barriers to outdoor participation. Evaluate current outdoor gear and translate research findings into clear, actionable recommendations for product design, accessibility, and user experience. Develop messaging and brand recommendations that help make outdoor experiences more relevant and welcoming to a broader audience. Benchmark how leading brands address inclusiveness and collaborate with Dometic specialists across sustainability, design, marketing, and inclusive design to identify future product, partnership, and innovation opportunities.

What do we offer?

You will join a dynamic, fast-paced global environment with access to real-world data, consumer insights, and industry specialists across Group Sustainability, Global Design, and Global Marketing. Primary mentorship will be provided by our Senior Industrial Designer who is part of the Global Design team.

This multidisciplinary setup offers a complete 360-degree view of how a global company transforms user insights into tangible product and brand innovations. Your research will directly inform and influence Dometic’s future product roadmap.

Suitable Background

We are looking for candidates with a solid foundation in user research, product design, or innovation management, along with:

Industrial Design with focus on user experience, consumer research, or another relevant discipline. Academic or practical experience in qualitative user research, such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, or structured feedback analysis, with the ability to translate findings into actionable recommendations.

To be successful in this role, we believe that you possess the following skills, competencies & characteristics:

A genuine interest in the outdoors and hands-on experience with camping-related products, together with a strong drive to make outdoor activities more enjoyable and welcoming for everyone. A basic understanding of inclusive design and how products and experiences can be made more accessible. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
