The posting

OFFER When live video travels across networks, every part of the system needs to deliver. At Net Insight, you will work on the software that makes reliable media transport possible — solving demanding engineering problems together with experienced colleagues who enjoy sharing their knowledge. We are looking for a senior C++ developer to join the Nimbra Edge team. This is a hands-on role with substantial technical ownership, where you will improve performance, investigate complex problems and influence the architecture behind a product used in professional media delivery. Some of the reasons to join Net Insight:

Technically challenging work in modern C++23, close to Linux, networking and hardware.

The opportunity to influence architecture, implementation and development practices.

A small, autonomous team within an established international technology company.

Friendly, knowledgeable colleagues who value collaboration and open discussion.

Flexible working hours and a workplace that understands life outside work.

THE PRODUCT AND TEAM Nimbra Edge enables the transport of live video across internet and private networks. You will join the team responsible for its dataplane: the C++ software that handles the actual flow of media through the system. The dataplane team consists of four engineers and works closely with seven colleagues developing the cloud parts of the product. Together, they cover a broad technical scope, from cloud software to the systems interacting with the underlying hardware. It is a friendly, collaborative group where you can discuss a difficult problem, challenge an idea and ask for another perspective. You will have room to work independently, with colleagues who support one another and care about the quality of the result. THE ROLE A central part of your work will be getting more from the available hardware: increasing channel capacity, reducing resource consumption and maintaining predictable performance under demanding conditions. You will move between architectural decisions and detailed investigation, following a problem through the stack to understand its root cause. That might mean examining memory access and concurrency, analysing network traffic or investigating how Linux scheduling affects latency. Your work will include:

Developing and improving performance-critical software in modern C++.

Profiling and optimising CPU, memory and network resource usage.

Investigating difficult bugs across software, operating system and hardware interactions.

Making architectural decisions and building solutions that remain clear and maintainable.

Reviewing code and sharing technical knowledge within the team.

Testing and validating behaviour on real hardware in the lab.

The current focus includes high-performance packet processing with DPDK and uncompressed video and audio transport using SMPTE ST 2110. You will also encounter precision timing, Linux tuning and hardware-accelerated media processing. You can learn ST 2110 and DPDK here. What you bring is the systems knowledge and engineering judgement needed to understand challenging problems and work through them.

YOUR PROFILE You are an experienced developer who still enjoys being deeply involved in the code. You take initiative when the next step is unclear, investigate before drawing conclusions and look for solutions that keep the system as simple as possible. You also enjoy working with others. You explain your reasoning, listen to different perspectives and share what you learn. Your technical contribution includes helping the team reach sound decisions together. We are looking for:

10+ years of professional software development experience.

Deep knowledge of modern C++ and systems programming, including memory management, concurrency and performance profiling.

Strong Linux experience, including troubleshooting involving the operating system, scheduling or hardware.

Solid networking fundamentals and confidence analysing traffic and protocol behaviour at packet level.

Experience developing performance-critical or real-time software with demanding latency, jitter or throughput requirements.

The ability to take ownership of technical problems and make well-founded design decisions.

Experience with video streaming protocols and media transport is particularly valuable. Other relevant experience includes DPDK or XDP, precision time synchronisation, NICs and drivers, or hardware-accelerated media processing. Your background may be in media technology, telecom, networking or another field with demanding systems and performance requirements. Previous broadcast experience is welcome, but is not required. The team also uses AI tools in its development workflow, and welcomes curiosity about how they can support your work.

LOCATION Net Insight develops technology for professional media networks, helping broadcasters, service providers and media organisations transport live content reliably. Its engineering work spans hardware, networking and cloud software, bringing together specialists across several technical disciplines. For more info, visit https://netinsight.net/

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
