Role description:

Arcadis seeks a Project Water/Wastewater Engineer role to join our Resilience Water Team in Houston, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated engineer who wants to quickly advance their career and join one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms.

As a Project Water/Wastewater Engineer role, you will utilize your expertise and technical knowledge to successfully execute projects. You will also assist with the pursuit of municipal water/wastewater pipeline projects in the region to help build and grow our practice in the Houston area and throughout Texas. The focus of this role is water/wastewater design for linear projects, including pipeline assessment and rehabilitation. However, other water/wastewater market planning and design experience is desired.

Role accountabilities:

This Project Water/Wastewater Engineer role offers the opportunity to lead and deliver critical infrastructure projects that support communities and utilities. You will manage projects from planning and design through construction, working closely with clients, multidisciplinary teams, and technical staff to develop innovative solutions for water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. The ideal candidate is a strong project leader with experience driving technical excellence, client relationships, and successful project delivery.

Additional duties include:

  • Manage the planning, design, and construction of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, stormwater infrastructure, and pump/lift stations, including preparation of construction documents, specifications, and construction phase services.
  • Lead the delivery of water, wastewater, and stormwater pipeline and pump station projects from inception through completion, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to develop solutions, prepare winning proposals, and support business development and client relationship growth.
  • Perform and oversee condition assessments of water, wastewater, and stormwater assets, while developing cost estimates, project schedules, and project execution strategies.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff while ensuring compliance with company quality, safety, and project delivery standards, including occasional travel for client meetings and site visits.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7 or more years of water/wastewater and stormwater conveyance (pipeline and/or pump station) design experience including large water transmission mains, water distribution pipelines, force mains, collection sewers, and lift stations.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study.
  • PE License in TX; or ability to obtain within one year of hire date.

Key Skills and Attributes:

Project experience including design and construction of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, stormwater systems, and pump/lift stations for municipal clients’ districts and agencies. Experience managing preparation of and reviewing and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates. Excellent technical engineering and project/task management skills in the water/wastewater practice area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience serving as the Engineer of Record for water transmission and distribution systems, wastewater and stormwater collection systems, and pump station design projects for clients in the Houston market is highly desirable.
  • Additional preferred qualifications include design-build project experience, active participation in regional or national professional associations, and NASSCO PACP, MACP, and/or LACP certification.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
