About Arda

Traditional pharmaceuticals modulate individual proteins and signaling pathways, aiming to nudge tissues and organs back toward health. But cells - not proteins - are the functional units of diseased tissue, and their behavior is governed by redundant networks that single-target drugs struggle to change. Arda Therapeutics offers a groundbreaking alternative: we target cells, not pathways. By depleting the specific pathogenic cells that drive chronic diseases such as fibrosis and inflammation, we shut down the entire network of dysfunction at once, rather than blocking one of many redundant nodes.

What makes this possible now is an explosion of single-cell data. Arda's discovery engine integrates multi-modal single-cell, spatial, and genetic data to pinpoint pathogenic cell states and the surface markers that distinguish them from healthy cells with unprecedented precision. We then engineer targeted biologics that eliminate only the harmful cells, sparing healthy tissue and opening the door to greater efficacy and episodic treatment. Backed by leading life-science and technology investors - and built by a team that blends computational biology, drug development, and deep cell-depletion expertise - Arda is defining a new domain of medicine for inflammatory and immunological diseases.

The Role

Arda is seeking an experienced, resourceful scientist to lead our Ex Vivo Pharmacology team. This individual will play a pivotal role in developing and executing ex vivo models to assess the efficacy of our therapeutic assets, with a particular emphasis on multispecific immune cell engagers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in ex vivo modeling, particularly precision cut tissue slice models, coupled with a proven track record of leading functional teams and managing other scientists.

Responsibilities

- Lead the Ex Vivo Pharmacology team in designing, developing, and executing ex vivo models to evaluate the efficacy of therapeutic candidates, with a focus on multispecific immune cell engagers.

- Develop and refine ex vivo models for programs targeting immunological and fibrotic diseases

- Evaluate and prioritize pipeline candidates based on preclinical data and strategic objectives, contributing to portfolio management decisions

- Coordinate cross-functional efforts with in vivo pharmacology, in vitro pharmacology, protein science, and discovery teams to drive programs from discovery through IND submission.

- Manage and mentor a team of scientists, fostering a culture of scientific rigor and innovation.

- Engage with external collaborators and CROs to augment ex vivo capabilities and ensure timely study execution.

- Lead and contribute to publications and presentations at industry conferences and/or business meetings; actively support a culture of innovation, learning, respect, and trust.

Qualifications

- PhD in Pharmacology, Immunology, or a related biological science, with a minimum of 4 years of industry experience in ex vivo pharmacology.

- Demonstrated expertise in developing and utilizing lung, liver, and/or gastrointestinal ex vivo models, particularly precision cut tissue slice models.

- Strong background in immunology and/or fibrosis research.

- Proven experience managing and mentoring scientists.

- Track record of leading programs from discovery through IND submission is strongly preferred.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

- Hands-on approach with a willingness to engage in both experimental design and execution.
