We believe in investing in our people and creating a culture where collaboration, inclusion, and professional growth are at the forefront.

Job Summary

Aretum is seeking a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide specialized expertise in Close Air Support (CAS), air-to-ground operations, and joint fires integration to support military exercises, training, and operational testing. This role supports mission planning, execution, and assessment by coordinating air assets, ground forces, fires, and airspace control while ensuring alignment with current military doctrine and operational procedures.

Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert knowledge of air-to-ground command-and-control systems and processes, including:
  • Theater Air Control System (TACS) / Army Air-Ground System (AAGS).
  • Marine Air Command and Control System (MACCS).
  • Navy Tactical Air Control System (NTACS).
  • Special Operations command-and-control processes supporting air-to-ground operations.
  • Provide effective replicated air control for counterland operations, particularly CAS missions.
  • Assist exercise and test planners in synchronizing CAS in time, space, and purpose with supported maneuver forces to improve event execution and achievement of training or test objectives.
  • Develop and modify the integration of direct and indirect surface-to-surface fires with CAS precision and non-precision weapons, consistent with current doctrine and applicable TTPs.
  • Coordinate with Air Operations Center Response Cell (AOC RC) and White Force personnel regarding the capabilities, limitations, and employment of FW/RW CAS and strike assets.
  • Assist AOC RC and White Force personnel with CAS weapons capabilities, limitations, and employment considerations.
  • Support the incorporation of joint air operations and CAS mission requirements into operational planning products, including:
  • Operation orders (OPORDs).
  • Air Tasking Orders (ATOs).
  • Airspace Control Orders (ACOs).
  • Special Instructions (SPINS).
  • Develop and modify CAS-related input to the battle damage assessment (BDA) process to support event objectives and assessment requirements.
  • Assist in developing complete mission reports (MISREPs).
  • Identify, analyze, and help resolve weather, terrain, threat, airspace, and operational conflicts affecting CAS employment.
  • Support air, space, and cyber “fly-out” replication cells by conducting required communications exchanges with training audiences and command-and-control elements, including Air Support Operations Squadrons (ASOS), Air Support Operations Centers (ASOC), and related organizations.
  • Participate in planning conferences, rehearsals, execution events, after-action reviews, and other activities necessary to support exercise or test objectives.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of joint and service air-to-ground integration processes, counterland operations, and CAS employment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in TACS/AAGS, MACCS, NTACS, and special operations air-to-ground command-and-control functions.
  • Working knowledge of CAS mission planning, execution, coordination, fires integration, airspace control, and BDA processes.
  • Familiarity with operational planning products, including OPORDs, ATOs, ACOs, SPINS, and MISREPs.
  • Knowledge of FW and RW CAS and strike asset capabilities, limitations, and employment considerations.
  • Ability to work effectively with joint, interagency, multinational, and service-component personnel in an exercise, test, or operational-training environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal formats and translate technical CAS considerations into actionable planning and execution support.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
