The Position

The Associate, Community Relations supports the planning and execution of community engagement strategies across greenfield, development, mergers and acquisitions, construction, and operating assets. This role works with increasing independence, serves as a reliable point of coordination for project teams and external partners, and helps ensure that community-facing activities are timely, consistent, well documented, and aligned with company standards.

The Associate is expected to manage routine assignments with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, anticipate project needs, and escalate sensitive or high-risk matters appropriately. The position also develops the presentation, stakeholder engagement, and project ownership skills required for continued advancement within Community Relations.

Key Responsibilities

Project and Operational Support

  • Independently coordinate vendor onboarding, required documentation, statements of work, invoice procedures, and related administrative processes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in Sitetracker and other approved systems, including project updates, stakeholder activity, community investments, donations, commitments, and supporting documentation.
  • Initiate and track purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, and other transactions in NetSuite or applicable company systems; coordinate with Accounts Payable to resolve issues and support timely payment.
  • Provide end-to-end logistical support for calls, meetings, events, travel, branded-material orders, and presentation development. Materials intended for external audiences must receive appropriate manager or director approval.
  • Conduct community, stakeholder, and project-area research at the request of the Community Relations Manager or Director, including early-stage community assessments and issue identification.

Community Engagement and Events

  • Partner with project teams to plan, coordinate, and support open houses, dinners, volunteer activities, career days, educational events, food drives, food-bank partnerships, tabling opportunities, and other community programs.
  • Lead the planning and execution of selected tabling or booth events, coordinating participation with teams and departments within Arevon, local representatives, external firms, and other project partners.
  • Gather accurate event information, outcomes, photographs, and approved highlights for submission to the Communications team for potential social media or external communications.
  • Develop project presentations and confidently present approved content to schools, Rotary clubs, chambers, civic organizations, and other local audiences.
  • Support late-stage project and community handoff activities, including ribbon-cutting logistics, remaining partner payments, final volunteer events, worker-appreciation activities, scholarship presentations, chamber events, and transition meetings with Asset Management.

Required Qualifications

  • Minium of 3 years of relevant experience, including at least 1-2 years of coordinating public relations, community engagement, public affairs, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, maintain accurate records, and follow established approval processes.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, research, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and effectively use Sitetracker, NetSuite, and other company systems.
  • Ability to travel during week and some weekends.
  • Travel based on project needs and with approval from the assigned Community Relations Manager or Director. Typical travel may average approximately 20-25% with additional travel required during periods of increased project activity.
  • Attend approved industry conferences, workshops, and networking events that directly support role development.

Core Competencies

  • Independent execution and accountability.
  • Stakeholder service and relationship building.
  • Project coordination and follow-through.
  • Professional judgment and appropriate escalation.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Presentation and public-speaking effectiveness.
  • Collaboration across functions and personalities.
  • Adaptability, professionalism, and conflict management.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
