The posting

Arkansas Talent Group is searching for an Assistant Controller for a well-established automotive dealership organization in Central Arkansas.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and gain broader exposure to financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and management reporting.

Working closely with the Controller, the Assistant Controller will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial information, supporting the company's accounting processes, and identifying opportunities to strengthen reporting and controls. The position offers the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of accounting functions rather than being limited to one specific area.

What You'll Do

  • Support the Controller with the company's day-to-day accounting and financial reporting processes.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and ensure reporting complies with applicable accounting guidelines and requirements.
  • Prepare and manage journal entries, invoices, account reconciliations, and other month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Review accounting information to identify and resolve discrepancies, inaccuracies, or account imbalances.
  • Support accounting functions including billing, tax reporting, and financial reporting.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in the company's budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Assist with preparation for the annual audit and provide supporting documentation as needed.
  • Develop and prepare financial and operational reports for management and regulatory purposes.
  • Utilize the company's accounting systems to maintain accurate records and improve accounting processes.
  • Help improve data integrity, financial reporting, and accounting efficiency throughout the dealership organization.
  • Participate in management meetings and work with leaders across the organization to support business needs.

These responsibilities closely reflect the company's description of the Assistant Controller as supporting accounting management, financial statements, close, budgeting/forecasting, audits, management reporting, internal controls, and accounting-system processes.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, related accounting experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous accounting experience with a strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and projects.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with employees and management.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills and the ability to learn and effectively utilize accounting technology.
  • Ability to analyze financial information, identify discrepancies, and work through problems to resolution.
  • High level of professionalism and the ability to appropriately handle confidential financial and business information.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively with coworkers and leaders throughout the organization.
