The posting

We are looking for a Research Technician with a passion for research and innovation to join the Food Science Laboratory team at Arla Innovation Centre, Aarhus. If you enjoy hands-on laboratory work and have a strong interest in food science and physical analysis, this could be an opportunity for you.

The role will primarily support chemical analyses within the Food Science Laboratory. Candidates with relevant experience in physical analytical methods may have the opportunity to initially support physical analyses before transitioning into a chemistry-focused role. The balance between the two areas will vary over time according to business and project needs, providing an opportunity to develop expertise across multiple analytical disciplines.

This is a full-time fixed-term position until 31 December 2031.

About our team

We have a global role in Arla Research & Innovation (R&I) and our purpose is to transform food science into business opportunities for Arla. We drive food science-based research, partner up with product developers to create the future of dairy and support our production sites worldwide with ad hoc tasks. We are a team of scientists and technicians with vast experience in food science, and we are eager to find a new colleague to share our scientific passions with.

“In our team, we apply and develop a wide range of analytical methods to evaluate both the chemical composition and physical behaviour of our products. We use chromatographic and MS-based techniques to characterize aroma, protein, peptide, metabolite, carbohydrate and mineral profiles, alongside physical analyses such as particle and droplet size analysis, microstructure visualization, rheology, viscosity and functional characterization” says R&D Manager, Food Science Laboratory, Betina Mikkelsen

How you will make an impact

As a Research Technician you will be joining a department of 22 specialists, all experts within their fields. You will join a team of 11 technicians responsible for carrying out both physical and chemical analyses. Working closely with scientists and fellow technicians, you will contribute to a wide range of tasks and projects while having the flexibility to plan and prioritize your own work.

A typical task covers the following

  • Taking in a request, coordinating and planning laboratory trials and analyses.
  • Executing and reporting trials and analysis.
  • Data handling, ordering the needed chemicals and maintaining our equipment.
  • Our main chemistry analytical methods include GC-MS, LC-TOF, LC-QTOF and IC.
  • Our main physical analytical methods include NMR, viscosity, light scattering methods, texture, stability test and advanced microscopy
  • Data treatment is a big part of daily work.

What will make you successful

We expect that you have a degree as Laboratory Technician (in Danish “laborant”). Experience in chemical laboratory analyses is an advantage. Experience with physical analytical methods such as NMR, viscosity measurements, light scattering methods, texture analysis, stability testing or advanced microscopy is required for candidates who wish to start in our physical laboratory before transitioning into a chemistry-focused role.

Furthermore, it is essential that you

What do we offer?

This is a temporary full-time position until 31 December 2031. Position where you grow your analytical skills and learn every day. Our positive and collaborative culture will bring out the best in you. We have an international environment where knowledge sharing, and continuous learning are key words. Finally, we offer you a team that values open communication, good team spirit, passion for science, trust and respect.

Application and contact

We will review applications and invite for interviews on an ongoing basis, so please apply as soon as possible. For additional information, please call R&D Manager of Food Science Laboratory Betina Mikkelsen at +45 28253323

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
