About the Role

As a Senior Associate – Program Management, you will play a key role in driving the execution and operational management of programs within the renewable energy and energy access ecosystem.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role that combines program management, strategic planning, business modelling, impact assessment, partnerships, and stakeholder management. You will work closely with senior leadership and multiple internal and external stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into actionable programs, pilots, partnerships, and scalable solutions.

The role requires someone who can operate comfortably across strategy and execution — from developing program plans and business models to coordinating implementation partners and contributing to senior-level stakeholder discussions.

Key Responsibilities

Program Strategy & Execution

  • Program Management: Drive the planning, execution, and coordination of multiple renewable energy programs and workstreams.
  • Portfolio Coordination: Align internal teams, consultants, implementation partners, and other stakeholders across different project tracks.
  • Program Design: Translate strategic priorities into actionable work plans, pilots, implementation plans, and project milestones.
  • Operational Delivery: Track program progress, identify bottlenecks, and drive timely resolution of execution challenges.
  • Scale & Replication: Support the development and scaling of successful renewable energy and energy access initiatives.

Business & Impact Management

  • Business Modelling: Develop and review business and financial models for renewable energy projects and deployment models.
  • Project Evaluation: Assess commercial viability, sustainability, revenue models, and potential partnership structures.
  • Impact Assessment: Work with relevant teams to track outcomes related to energy access, carbon reduction, livelihoods, employment, and community impact.
  • Strategic Insights: Translate program data and analysis into actionable insights and recommendations for senior leadership.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Management

  • Strategic Partnerships: Build and manage relationships with government stakeholders, implementation partners, technology providers, corporates, foundations, and other ecosystem players.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Support senior leadership in strategic conversations and meetings with external stakeholders.
  • Proposal Development: Contribute to the development of proposals, concept notes, pitch decks, and business cases for new initiatives and funding opportunities.
  • Resource Mobilisation: Support fundraising and partnership conversations by developing strong program narratives, impact propositions, and supporting analysis.

Who You Are

  • Renewable Energy Expertise: Strong professional experience in the renewable energy sector, with an understanding of distributed renewable energy, off-grid/microgrid models, energy access, or related areas.
  • Program Management: Minimum 8 years of experience in managing complex programs, multiple workstreams, implementation partners, or geographically distributed projects.
  • Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to analyse problems, develop business models, interpret data, and translate insights into actionable plans.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and diverse external stakeholders.
  • Execution Orientation: Strong ownership and ability to take initiatives from strategy and planning through implementation and delivery.
  • Working Style: Comfortable working in an evolving environment, managing ambiguity, and moving seamlessly between strategic problem-solving and hands-on execution.
  • Background Preference: Experience in renewable energy companies, clean-energy startups, development-sector organisations, energy-access initiatives, or consulting with relevant operating experience would be preferred.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.
