The posting

WEALTH ADVISOR

Boutique Private Wealth Practice, Helderberg.

Location: Somerset West, Western Cape

Reports To: Founder & Principal Wealth Manager

Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Experience: 3 – 6 Years

ABOUT THE FIRM

The firm is a boutique, owner-led wealth management practice in Somerset West. It offers personalised local and international investment planning to private clients, families and business owners across the Helderberg and greater Cape Town.

For more than a decade, the practice has grown on long-standing, multi-generational client relationships. It combines the personal service of a boutique with the backing and resources of a larger national wealth group. Its offering covers investment planning, offshore investment and foreign exchange, estate and succession planning, and cash management for businesses.

The practice is led by a highly qualified Principal Wealth Manager with extensive corporate and private-banking experience. This role works directly alongside him.

THE ROLE

The Wealth Advisor works hand-in-hand with the Principal Wealth Manager to service and grow an established book of private clients. You'll prepare and attend client reviews, build financial plans and investment proposals, and own the follow-through on every action that comes out of a client meeting.

Over time, the Wealth Advisor takes increasing ownership of client relationships within the book and becomes the primary adviser on an allocated panel of clients.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Reviews & Advice

  • Prepare for and attend client review meetings alongside the Principal Wealth Manager
  • Build financial needs analyses, investment proposals and records of advice in line with FAIS requirements
  • Produce structured meeting minutes and action lists promptly after every meeting
  • Present portfolio reviews and recommendations to clients, increasingly independently over time

Investment & Planning Work

  • Research and recommend local and offshore investment solutions across leading LISP platforms
  • Support offshore investment and foreign exchange transactions, including SARB allowance processes
  • Assist with retirement, estate and succession planning, working alongside fiduciary and tax specialists
  • Prepare CGT and tax-efficiency calculations to support proposals

Client Service & Relationship Management

  • Act as a day-to-day point of contact for clients between meetings
  • Instruct and follow up with the administration team on implementing all client instructions
  • Keep client records, FICA documentation and the CRM complete and current
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of each client's family, business and financial circumstances

Practice Growth

  • Support the Principal in deepening existing relationships and engaging the next generation of client families
  • Contribute to onboarding new clients and to referral-based growth

Requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

The following are considered essential:

  • 3 to 6 years in wealth management, financial planning or private banking
  • RE5 and FAIS fit-and-proper (recognised qualification, CPD current, no debarment)
  • CFP® qualification, or demonstrably in progress with a clear completion timeline
  • A relevant degree, e.g. BCom Financial Planning, PG Dip Financial Planning, or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of South African investment platforms and offshore investment structures
  • Competency in CGT calculations and a sound understanding of estate and retirement planning
  • Excellent written communication across proposals, records of advice and client correspondence
  • High attention to detail, strong accountability and sound judgement in client situations

Advantageous:

  • Fluency in Afrikaans
  • Exposure to forex / offshore transfers
  • Experience in a boutique or owner-managed practice
  • Based in, or within easy commute of, the Helderberg

Benefits

REMUNERATION

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will join a growing practice with a clear path to greater client ownership.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
