About the Role

Help ARX Robotics develop and deliver autonomous ground systems with sound legal decisions behind them. As Head of Legal, you will lead ARX Robotics’ legal function in Ukraine, reporting directly to the CEO of ARX Ukraine, with a functional reporting line to the Director Legal & Compliance at ARX Robotics’ German headquarters. You will advise local leadership on key legal and regulatory matters and help build a scalable legal function for a fast-growing defence technology business.

Work closely with local management and HQ group functions, including Legal & Compliance, HR, Finance, Engineering and Product. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on support on the legal matters that matter most to the business.

What You'll Build

  1. Strategic Leadership & Function Building
  • Serve as the senior legal point of contact for the Ukrainian business, ensuring alignment between Ukrainian law and ARX Robotics’ group-wide legal, compliance, security and governance standards.
  • Build, scale and lead the legal function in Ukraine, developing practical legal processes and a future local legal team as the business grows.
  • Advise the CEO and executive team on strategic decisions, material legal and regulatory risks, corporate governance and business growth.
  • Manage external legal counsel and subject-matter advisors in Ukraine and internationally, ensuring high-quality, business-focused support.
  1. Export Control, Defense Procurement & International Compliance
  • Lead the legal framework for military and dual-use goods and technologies, including classification, licensing and coordination with Ukrainian and international regulators.
  • Advise on defence procurement, export controls, sanctions, customs, foreign exchange and technology-transfer requirements across relevant Ukrainian, EU and US regimes.
  • Coordinate international and intragroup transfers of equipment, components, software and technical data with the Director Legal & Compliance at ARX Robotics’ German headquarters and relevant HQ Group functions.
  1. Complex Contracting, Claims & Litigation
  • Lead complex contracts with government customers, international partners, suppliers and contractors, from due diligence through negotiation and signing.
  • Lead legal strategies for claims, disputes and litigation to protect the company’s interests.
  • Oversee contract performance after signing, including acceptance documentation, acts of completed works with the customers and contract amendments.
  • Set the legal framework for accepting customer-owned military equipment into custody for repair and service, including documentation, liability, and handover procedures.
  1. Corporate Structuring, Governance & IP Protection
  • Lead legal initiatives, statutory modifications, intragroup agreements, and corporate compliance in coordination with state registrars and notaries.
  • Shape the IP strategy for local engineering developments, working with HQ Legal, Engineering and Product to protect software, know-how and other technology assets.Assess and maintain the company's eligibility for special legal regimes for defence manufacturers and ensure compliance with their reporting requirements.
  1. Regulatory Affairs, Risk Management & HR Legal
  • Lead responses to government, law enforcement and regulatory inquiries and represent the company in official audits, coordinating material matters with the Director Legal & Compliance at ARX Robotics’ German headquarters.
  • Strengthen anti-corruption and compliance practices in Ukraine, including conflicts of interest, third-party due diligence, sanctions and defence procurement compliance.
  • Advise HR on employment law and personnel matters as the company scales, working with the Director Legal & Compliance at ARX Robotics’ German headquarters and Group HR on material or cross-border matters.
  • Provide legal oversight of the company's critical enterprise status, employee reservation from mobilisation and military registration, including interaction with the relevant authorities.

What You Bring

  • A law degree and qualification to practise in Ukraine; international qualifications are an advantage.
  • 8+ years of legal experience, including 3 or more years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience leading an in-house legal function in an international, regulated or fast-growing business.
  • Strong experience in corporate structuring, cross-border legal matters, export control and sanctions compliance.
  • Experience managing external counsel and working across functions in an international organisation.
  • Fluent, negotiation-level English for collaboration with headquarters and Group teams.
  • Sound judgement, integrity and discretion, with a practical approach to balancing business needs and legal independence.
