About the Role We are seeking a part-time, meticulous Payroll Specialist to join our team. This individual will be responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll, maintaining payroll records, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and providing support to employees and management regarding payroll-related matters. The ideal candidate is dependable, analytical, highly organized, and committed to maintaining confidentiality while delivering excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities
Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll accurately and in accordance with established payroll schedules. Review and verify payroll data, including employee hours, earnings, deductions, commissions, bonuses, and other adjustments. Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure payroll information is updated in the payroll system. Calculate and process garnishments, benefit deductions, and other required withholdings. Review payroll reports and reconcile discrepancies before finalizing payroll. Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee questions, and pay-related issues in a timely and professional manner. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and payroll regulations. Coordinate with Human Resources, Accounting, and other departments to ensure accurate employee data and payroll-related transactions. Maintain confidentiality of employee information and sensitive payroll data. Assist with payroll audits, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives. Perform additional payroll and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience High school diploma or equivalent; BSc/BA in business, accounting or relevant field is a plus. Experience with multi-state payroll and payroll tax regulations preferred. Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll requirements, including wage and hour regulations. Advanced in Microsoft Excel. Experience working with payroll/HRIS systems. Dayforce experience a plus. Experience with union payrolls Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines.
