Responsibilities:

A Retirement Income Designer provides objective, consultative services in response to agent/broker requests for assistance in placing the optimal annuity contract policy to meet applicants' unique and individual needs. The consultant sustains continuous focus on quality improvement of processes and services.

  • Respond to inquiries from agents/brokers to determine an appropriate annuity contract to meet specific customer needs.
  • Work alongside agents to collect information regarding the prospective applicant. Seek to understand the needs of the prospective applicant, perform research and employ knowledge of current market activity and carrier offerings to recommend a contract closely tailored to the applicant's specifications.
  • Solicit current and prospective agents and brokers, advising of new products, carriers, services and sales ideas with the intent of generating new and additional business for the company.
  • Use carrier software to create professional illustration of proposed policy or contract and transmit to agent for consideration by prospective applicant. Discuss features and merits of the illustrated policy or contract with agent. Actively involve the agent in the redesign and requote of alternatives, if necessary.
  • Enter initial illustration activity into internal tracking system and record follow-up activity as it occurs.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with agents and carriers.
  • Capitalize on opportunities to educate agents on various product offerings and the benefits of doing business with Ash Brokerage.
  • Provide ongoing customer service to agents by responding directly to inquiries, or by referring inquiries regarding the status of a case after an application has been submitted.
  • Maintain awareness of new or modified product offerings and industry developments.

Talents and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively present information to agents and leadership
  • Ability to effectively establish rapport, present information and respond to inquiries from customers
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills and ability to influence and persuade to achieve desired outcomes
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports, insurance policies, coverage documents and regulations
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, pro-rata percentages and volumes
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to exercise judgment in analyzing, appraising, evaluating and solving problems of a difficult procedural, organizational or administrative nature
  • Strong organizational and follow-through
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in business or finance and 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior experience in the sale or marketing of insurance and financial products highly desirable
  • Life insurance license preferred or ability to obtain within first 90 days
