Senior Medical Writer – Publications

Be part of the science shaping the future of cancer care

At Ashfield MedComms, we believe great medical communications can help transform scientific advances into meaningful improvements for patients.

We're looking for a scientifically curious Senior Medical Writer to join an established publications account supporting a growing portfolio of solid tumour therapies.

This is an exciting time to join the team. One of the products in the portfolio has recently received approval.

You will be part of a portfolio at a genuinely important stage of development. You will work on potentially practice-changing medicines while learning from an experienced team of medical communications experts.

The opportunity

As a Senior Medical Writer, you'll contribute within the publications team, communicating emerging and established clinical evidence to the scientific and medical community.

Reporting to a Scientific Team Director, you'll work with experienced scientific and account colleagues. You'll also collaborate with clients and external experts to develop high-quality publications and strategic materials.

You will:

  • Develop abstracts, manuscripts and posters for scientific and medical audiences.
  • Create publication enhancements and other scientific communications.
  • Contribute to publication strategy and developing publication plans.
  • Support gap analyses to identify opportunities within the evidence landscape.
  • Develop lexicons and other strategic scientific resources.
  • Research, interpret and critically evaluating scientific and clinical data.
  • Work with authors, KOLs, clients and our teams throughout the content development process.
  • Contribute scientific and strategic thinking to the wider account.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of scientific and editorial quality.

You'll be given the opportunity to take ownership of your work while benefiting from the support and expertise of a seasoned publications team. As the account continues to grow, there will be plenty of scope to broaden your experience, develop your skills and shape your career.

About you

We're looking for someone who combines scientific expertise with curiosity, initiative and a passion for making a difference.

You'll have:

  • An advanced degree in science or medicine, such as an MSc, PhD, PharmD, MD or equivalent.
  • Several years experience in medical writing, within a medical communications agency.
  • Excellent scientific writing, editing and critical appraisal skills.
  • Strong project management with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • The confidence to work collaboratively with clients, authors, KOLs and colleagues.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the motivation to take ownership of your work.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for medical communications and the opportunity to translate complex science into meaningful stories.

Oncology experience is highly desirable, particularly experience in solid tumours. Experience across areas such as lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, breast cancer or colorectal cancer would be particularly relevant.

Above all, we're looking for a scientific communicator who is passionate about improving patients' lives. These are potentially practice-changing medicines, and we want someone who is excited by the opportunity to play a part in communicating the evidence behind them.

Why join Ashfield MedComms?

This is more than an opportunity to work on publications.

You'll join an experienced, collaborative team at an exciting point in the development of a growing oncology portfolio. You'll have the opportunity to learn from people with years of expertise in medical communications while building your own scientific, strategic and client-facing capabilities.

As the account grows, so will your opportunities to progress and develop your career.

Benefits include:

  • Hybrid or Remote working options
  • Private Healthcare
  • Life insurance
  • Pension

If you're looking for a role where you can do meaningful work, develop your expertise and contribute to communications around medicines that could change the standard of care, we'd love to hear from you.

Join us and help communicate the science behind the next generation of cancer care.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
