ERMS Technician III

ASRC Federal Advanced Research supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through the Battery and Electronic Remote Monitoring System (ERMS) Support contract. We are seeking an Engineering Technician, Level 3, to join our growing team.

In this role, you will support the FAA’s Power Services Group by installing and integrating new ERMS hardware, upgrading and replacing legacy monitoring and power system components, and troubleshooting issues with existing ERMS systems at FAA National Airspace System (NAS) facilities. This ERMS equipment supports the sustainment and monitoring of key FAA infrastructure such as engine generators, Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS), and DC Bus systems. Technicians travel frequently to remote FAA sites to remove outdated equipment, install upgraded components, perform comprehensive system testing, and ensure all work complies with FAA technical, safety, and quality requirements. You will work hands‑on with electrical power and monitoring equipment, follow installation and testing procedures, and provide complete and accurate installation records, photographs, and acceptance documentation to support the reliability and continuity of FAA power and environmental monitoring systems nationwide. This position is for future augmentations.

Responsibilities:

Follow instructions of a Senior Engineering Technician in the performance of equipment replacement, system testing, and troubleshooting activities. Perform ERMS installations, upgrades, replacements, and troubleshooting in accordance with FAA direction and project requirements. Install FAA-provided equipment and supporting electrical components, including conduit, conductors, CAT cabling, grounding hardware, and related materials. Execute all assigned tasks in an orderly, safe, and timely manner while adhering to FAA safety, security, and quality standards. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition throughout all phases of onsite work. Develop proficiency in ERMS installation procedures and progress toward independently performing full-scope installation and testing activities with minimal supervision. Submit trip reports, expense documentation, and other administrative records in accordance with company and FAA program requirements.

Required Qualifications:

US Citizenship or Permanent Residency, with residency in the United States for the past 3 years (required for FAA background investigation eligibility). Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA background investigation and meet all FAA facility access requirements. Minimum of three years of experience as an Engineering Technician or performing similar electrical/mechanical installation and troubleshooting work. Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical instructions, wiring diagrams, and installation procedures. Basic electrical installation skills, including experience with conduit installation, wire pulling, terminations, grounding, and cable routing. Proficiency using electrical test equipment such as voltmeters, clamp meters, and related diagnostic tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate installation documentation and trip reports. Ability to travel up to 80% of the time, primarily Monday–Friday, to FAA facilities. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, work in industrial environments, stand, bend, or work in confined spaces as needed. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and the use of mobile devices for documentation and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with FAA ERMS systems or similar remote monitoring equipment. Experience supporting power installations for the FAA. Familiarity with FAA orders, standards, technical instructions, and site installation expectations (NEC, NFPA 70E, etc.). Prior experience working in highly regulated or safety‑critical environments (military, aviation, utilities, telecom, etc.).

Education:

Associate’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or similar field;

OR

Completion of a two‑year technical certificate program (community college, vocational, military, or FAA Academy) in electronics or a related discipline;

OR

A minimum of four years of directly relevant technical experience supporting NAS or similar electrical/electronic systems.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
