JOB SUMMARY
The Data Warehouse & ETL Developer designs, develops, maintains, and supports enterprise data warehouse solutions and data integration processes, primarily using Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). This mid-level role transforms data from multiple business systems into reliable, well-structured data models that support reporting, analytics, and business decision-making. The developer partners with technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver accurate, scalable, and maintainable data solutions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines that load and transform data in Microsoft SQL Server data warehouse environments.
- Translate business and source-system requirements into source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, and technical designs.
- Write and optimize complex T-SQL, stored procedures, and reusable transformations for data extraction, cleansing, integration, and validation.
- Develop, deploy, schedule, monitor, and support SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages and workflows.
- Develop and maintain dimensional data models, including fact and dimension tables, to support reporting and analytics.
- Create and execute unit tests, data reconciliations, and validation routines to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor production SSIS packages and data pipelines, troubleshoot failures and data issues, and perform root-cause analysis.
- Optimize SQL Server queries, stored procedures, SSIS packages, and data-loading performance.
- Follow source-control, code-review, deployment, and change-management standards.
- Document data flows, technical designs, transformation logic, dependencies, and operational support procedures.
- Collaborate with data architects, analysts, application teams, and business stakeholders to deliver and support dependable data solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience developing and supporting data warehouse and ETL/ELT solutions.
- Strong T-SQL skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning, data validation, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience developing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server data warehouse solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), including package development, deployment, scheduling, monitoring, and error handling.
- Experience designing and supporting ETL workflows, dependencies, restartability, logging, and production support processes.
- Experience developing stored procedures and reusable data-transformation logic.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT best practices.
- Experience with testing, reconciliation, production support, and root-cause analysis for data pipelines.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business partners.
Preferred:
- Experience in a retail environment or with retail data such as sales, inventory, merchandising, customer, loyalty, or supply chain data.
- Experience with Snowflake, Snowpipe, or a comparable cloud data warehouse platform.
- Experience supporting reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI or SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Experience with data governance, data quality tools, or cloud-based data integration patterns.
- Experience with Azure data services or other cloud data platforms and migration initiatives.
