Overview

The Business Development Associate is responsible for generating top-of-funnel pipeline by creating access to target accounts and enabling BDM productivity. This role is a production function, not administrative support, and is critical to scaling business development performance.

The Business Development Associate executes the defined territory strategy by partnering with the BDM to generate overall referral growth and increase referral volume. The position makes daily calls to prospective referral sources, creates, develops and maintains relationships and coordinates and supports sales and networking activities.

This is a territory field sales role in Michigan, metro Detroit, Troy, Flint, and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

Pipeline Generation • Identify and prioritize target accounts • Execute outbound outreach (calls, emails, campaigns) • Schedule qualified meetings for BDMs

Account Targeting & Segmentation • Maintain accurate account lists and segmentation • Support territory and pod planning • Ensure CRM data integrity

Campaign Execution • Execute local and regional outreach campaigns • Coordinate with marketing initiatives • Support event-driven pipeline generation

Pod Support & Alignment • Partner with BDMs and Sr. BDMs to align outreach to priorities • Focus effort on highest-value opportunities • Ensure speed and consistency of follow-up

Key KPIs • Qualified meetings scheduled • Pipeline generated (# of new referring providers) • Outreach activity levels • Qualified Opportunities Created (handed to BDM) • CRM accuracy and data completeness

Qualifications

Minimum Education Required: • Associate’s degree or 2 years of equivalent experience in exercise science/physiology, sports/performance training, kinesiology Preferred: • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

Minimum Experience Required: • 1-2 years of sales or healthcare experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities • Market & Business Acumen – Understand target segments and prioritize high-value accounts • Strategic Execution – Execute targeted outreach aligned to territory and pod priorities • Business Development – Generate new opportunities through high-volume outreach • Relationship Management – Establish initial rapport with prospective accounts • Consultative Selling – Communicate basic value proposition to secure meetings • Negotiation & Deal Execution – Qualify opportunities and transition effectively to BDMs • Collaboration & Influence – Work closely with CDs, BDMs and Sr. BDMs to align outreach efforts • Operational Discipline – Maintain high activity levels and accurate CRM data • Coaching & Talent Development – Learn and apply feedback quickly

Licenses and Certifications Required: • Maintain valid state driver’s license
