The posting

Who we are

Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress.

Over the last decade, software has transformed the digital world. But the physical world, where food is made, minerals are mined, goods are moved, and industries are run, remains far less intelligent, far less efficient, and far more constrained. We’re changing that.

Atoms builds Physical AI— real-world robots for the industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. Our systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, more scalable, and more productive.

This work requires more than robotics. It requires deep integration across hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate. We don’t just build machines in a lab. We deploy them into real environments, operate them, learn from them, and improve them until they work at scale.

We are roboticists, engineers, operators, and builders. We believe the next great technology companies will not only transform information, but the physical systems that shape everyday life.

If you want to work on hard problems with real-world impact, join us.

About the role

The Training Lead role is a hands-on frontline leader responsible for driving daily operational excellence across an in-market training team, facilitating training sessions, and leading on-site onboarding. This role is ideal for a highly dedicated, action-oriented individual who is ready to take on-the-ground leadership in Los Angeles. Los Angeles is the highest-volume training market, consistently hiring hundreds of drivers a month. You will serve as the primary point of contact on behalf of the training team, manage staffing, respond to operational issues in real time, coaching and developing your training team, and ensuring an elevated candidate experience.

What you’ll do

Employee Coaching, Support and Development

  • Lead and develop a team of 15-17 trainers, driving overall performance, professional development, coaching, and career growth initiatives.
  • Oversee all employee relation matters for the in-market training team, serving as the primary point of contact for workplace concerns, policy enforcement, and conflict resolution.

Trainer Scheduling, Onboarding and Shift Coverage

  • Manage the end-to-end employee lifecycle for the in-market trainers, including hiring, onboarding, and offboarding.
  • Foster team culture to enhance employee engagement, and improve overall retention.
  • Manage trainer scheduling and shift assignments to balance operational needs within budgetary guidelines.
  • Balance coverage planning for peak volume spikes, callouts, and holiday schedules.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact to resolving all day-to-day scheduling escalations and operational issues.

Training Facility Operations and On-The-Ground Execution

  • Elevate the candidate and trainer experience across all on-the-ground operational processes in the training facility.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of Driving Assessments, including site setup, staffing allocation, candidate flow, and issue resolution.
  • Implement and maintain all training content, tools, and process changes across in-market operations.
  • Apply the Driving Assessment rubric with high consistency, having sound judgment calls on evaluation decisions and optimizing route selection for LA driving conditions.
  • Identify and escalate market-specific operational issues, recurring patterns, and process improvement opportunities to the Training Manager.

What we’re looking for

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior people management experience with direct reports, having carried responsibility for performance conversations, employee relations, and team development before
  • Experience managing a team of ten or more, or clear evidence of leadership to step up into direct people management
  • Comfortable managing a high-volume, time-sensitive operation where daily execution is visible and consequential
  • Strong scheduling and resource-allocation judgment, including working within a fixed budget
  • Ability to hold a standard, executing consistently while advocating for change through the right channel
  • Clear communication across trainers, candidates, HR, and leadership
  • Comfort with data and reporting, using metrics to spot and report trends

Preferred

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in driver training, transportation, logistics, or a comparable operational hiring environment
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking and assessment platforms (e.g., Fountain, Harver)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Experience building or improving process in a team that has grown quickly

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
