The posting

Job Summary:

The Field Project Supervisor leads day-to-day delivery of nondestructive examination (NDE), API inspection, rope access, and advanced NDE services at a large refinery. The position coordinates field crews, work priorities, client communication, safety, quality, schedule, and project costs to deliver work safely, on time, and in line with contract requirements.

The supervisor serves as the primary field contact for the client, coordinates with project management and operations, and oversees rope access and inspection teams performing UT, MT, PT, RT, VT, API inspection, and advanced NDE work. The role manages project gross margin through labor, equipment, productivity, change management, and timely escalation of cost or scope issues. The supervisor also tracks and reports project KPIs and maintains complete, accurate field documentation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads daily field execution of NDE, API inspection, rope access, and advanced NDE work at the refinery.
  • Coordinates crew assignments, work fronts, priorities, access, permits, equipment, and interfaces with refinery operations and other contractors.
  • Oversees rope access teams and NDE crews performing UT, MT, PT, RT, VT, and advanced NDE methods, confirming work is assigned to qualified personnel.
  • Coordinates API inspection activities and interfaces with inspectors, client representatives, and engineering or reliability personnel as required by project scope.
  • Serves as the primary day-to-day field contact for the client; communicates progress, constraints, schedule changes, safety concerns, quality issues, and emerging needs.
  • Leads daily planning, toolbox talks, job safety analyses, and pre-job briefings; verifies personnel understand hazards, controls, permits, and stop-work expectations.
  • Maintains a visible field safety presence, intervenes when conditions or behaviors create risk, and promptly reports incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
  • Ensures work follows company and refinery safety requirements, approved procedures, inspection plans, quality requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Monitors inspection quality, report completeness, data traceability, equipment readiness, calibration status, and timely closeout of deficiencies.
  • Plans and monitors labor, equipment, subcontractor, travel, and other project costs against the approved estimate and forecast.
  • Manages project gross margin by monitoring productivity, utilization, overtime, equipment usage, rework, and cost-to-complete; develops and communicates corrective actions.
  • Identifies scope growth, delays, access limitations, standby, extra work, and other commercial impacts; documents and elevates them promptly for review and authorization.
  • Reviews time, equipment, production, and field tickets for accuracy and timely submission to support payroll, billing, and cost reporting.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports project KPIs such as safety observations, hours worked, productivity, utilization, schedule progress, inspection quantities, report turnaround, rework, and cost or margin performance.
  • Prepares daily and periodic client and internal reports, including manpower and equipment status, work completed, look-ahead plans, constraints, incidents, and KPI results.
  • Coordinates mobilization, demobilization, shift handovers, crew rotations, equipment logistics, and continuity of work across multiple crews or work fronts.
  • Provides direction, coaching, and performance feedback to field personnel; supports development of supervisors, technicians, rope access personnel, and inspectors.
  • Works with project management, operations, safety, quality, and commercial teams to resolve issues and maintain consistent project delivery.
  • Maintains accurate project records and protects confidential employee, client, commercial, and facility information.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience: Five or more years of progressive experience in NDE, API inspection, rope access, or industrial inspection services, including field leadership or project supervision.
  • Experience supervising work in a refinery, petrochemical, offshore, or other heavy industrial environment strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of UT, MT, PT, RT, VT, API inspection, rope access operations, and advanced NDE service delivery; certifications appropriate to the assigned scope are preferred.
  • Knowledge of refinery work controls, permit-to-work systems, job safety analysis, quality plans, inspection procedures, and applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage labor, equipment, productivity, forecasts, project costs, and gross margin.
  • Ability to understand estimates, schedules, work orders, time records, cost reports, and project financial information.
  • Strong client communication, field coordination, leadership, conflict resolution, and written reporting skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project reporting, timekeeping, scheduling, or cost-tracking systems.
  • Ability to analyze KPIs, identify trends and variances, and communicate corrective actions clearly.
  • Ability to manage multiple crews and work fronts in a changing, deadline-driven environment.
  • Commitment to safe work, quality execution, accurate documentation, and consistent use of stop-work authority.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; must meet site access, background, and drug-screening requirements as applicable.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities:

  • Performing duties in a manner that protects personal and team health and safety
  • Participating in required HSE training, meetings, and reporting activities
  • Identifying and reporting hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
