The posting

Job Summary:

Audubon is seeking a Site Safety Lead to join our team. The Site Safety Lead supports safe execution of facility integrity, NDE, API inspection, rope access, and advanced NDE work at an assigned refinery site. This onsite role works with project leadership, field supervisors, technicians, inspectors, and site safety representatives to identify hazards, verify controls, and strengthen safe work practices across active work areas.

The Site Safety Lead provides field safety leadership, monitors compliance with company and site requirements, supports incident prevention and response, and tracks safety performance. The position advises and coaches field teams, escalates significant risks, and coordinates with the Radiation Safety Officer and other qualified personnel when work involves radiography or specialized hazards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide a visible onsite safety presence for facility integrity, NDE, API inspection, rope access, and advanced NDE crews.
  • Work with project and field leadership to plan work safely, review scope and hazards, and confirm required controls are in place before work begins.
  • Lead or support pre-job briefings, toolbox talks, job safety analyses, hazard assessments, and daily safety communications.
  • Verify personnel understand and follow refinery access rules, permit-to-work requirements, energy isolation, confined space, hot work, work-at-height, and other applicable controls.
  • Conduct field observations, inspections, and audits; document findings and follow corrective actions through closure.
  • Coach employees and supervisors on safe work practices, hazard recognition, stop-work authority, and reporting expectations.
  • Monitor work involving rope access, elevated locations, radiography, confined spaces, lifting, and other higher-risk activities; coordinate with qualified technical leads and site representatives.
  • Coordinate with the Radiation Safety Officer and radiography personnel to verify required radiation controls, exclusion zones, communication, and site interfaces are addressed.
  • Promote compliance with company HSE procedures, refinery requirements, applicable regulations, and approved project safety plans.
  • Report and assist with investigation of incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and equipment or process failures; help identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Support emergency preparedness, drills, response coordination, and communication of site-specific emergency procedures.
  • Track safety observations, audits, training, incidents, corrective actions, and other project safety metrics; prepare regular KPI reports for project leadership and the client.
  • Review safety trends and performance data and recommend practical actions to prevent repeat issues and improve field execution.
  • Verify required safety orientations, training, certifications, and documentation are current for assigned personnel before work begins.
  • Coordinate with client site safety personnel and internal HSE, operations, quality, and project teams to resolve safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and protect confidential employee, incident, and client information.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; degree or formal training in occupational safety, environmental health, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Five or more years of safety experience in refinery, petrochemical, oil and gas, construction, or other heavy industrial operations; field safety leadership experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety practices, hazard recognition, job safety analysis, permit-to-work systems, incident reporting, and corrective action processes.
  • Knowledge of refinery work controls and common hazards, including energy isolation, confined space, hot work, work at heights, and radiography interfaces.
  • Experience supporting NDE, API inspection, rope access, radiography, or facility integrity services preferred.
  • Ability to conduct field inspections, communicate findings, document actions, and follow issues through resolution.
  • Strong communication, coaching, organization, and problem-solving skills; ability to work effectively with field personnel and client representatives.
  • Ability to collect and report safety metrics using spreadsheets and standard office software.
  • OSHA 30-hour training or equivalent safety training preferred; must complete all required site and company training.
  • Current first aid/CPR training preferred; additional safety credentials such as CHST, CSP, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Must be able to meet applicable site access, background, and drug-screening requirements.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
