About the role The role focuses on building local connections, facilitating workshops and discussions to support community resilience initiatives that reflect local strengths, risks, and priorities. Working collaboratively with councils, community organisations, and emergency services, the officer guides communities through each phase of the RediCommunities process — from engagement and assessment to action planning and evaluation — ensuring inclusive participation and sustainable long-term resilience outcomes that align with Red Cross humanitarian principles and emergency management frameworks. What you will bring
Knowledge and expertise and/or lived experience in disaster resilience, recovery and community engagement Practical skills in working with communities to build resilience, facilitate engagement and support locally led outcomes As an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, demonstrate a level of knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, community and country Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including genuine and transparent consultation and negotiation Ability to deliver training, workshops, and resources. A Driver's licence and Working with children check (or the ability to obtain one) are mandatory requirements of the role
