The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer – Agent Team based in the United States.

Join a distributed engineering team building a cloud-native endpoint management platform that helps organizations secure, configure, and maintain devices at scale. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Agent Team, you will design and develop reliable, secure services that communicate with millions of software agents deployed across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments. You will take ownership of complex features throughout the entire development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Working across backend services, frontend interfaces, and event-driven architectures, you will help deliver scalable solutions that simplify modern IT operations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, mentor fellow engineers, and champion high standards for security, quality, and performance. This remote opportunity offers meaningful technical ownership, challenging distributed systems problems, and the chance to shape products used by organizations worldwide.

Accountabilities:

  • Design and develop scalable solutions: Research, architect, build, secure, and maintain software services that support communication with more than two million deployed endpoint agents worldwide.
  • Own features end to end: Lead significant features and services from technical design and implementation through testing, release, production monitoring, and ongoing maintenance, including associated frontend interfaces.
  • Evolve distributed systems: Extend and improve event-driven services, microservices, and large-scale event ingestion platforms to support new capabilities across the endpoint management platform.
  • Prioritize security and reliability: Apply secure coding practices, follow established security standards, and proactively address vulnerabilities, performance bottlenecks, and reliability risks.
  • Champion engineering excellence: Lead by example in code quality, testing, documentation, refactoring, automation, and adherence to modern software development practices.
  • Optimize application performance: Monitor production behavior, evaluate the impact of changes, use data to guide decisions, and continuously improve scalability, responsiveness, and system stability.
  • Collaborate across teams: Partner with Product, Program Management, Quality Engineering, and Technical Support to clarify ambiguous requirements, define practical solutions, and deliver customer-focused outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership: Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, contribute to architectural discussions, and promote effective engineering practices across the team.
  • Support continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve development workflows, testing strategies, usability, and operational processes while maintaining a high standard of software quality.
  • Professional experience: At least five years of experience designing, developing, testing, and monitoring applications in high-availability SaaS environments.
  • Backend engineering: Strong professional experience with Go or Java, along with the versatility to work across multiple programming languages and technology stacks.
  • Distributed systems: Experience developing applications that maintain continuous connectivity with client software, ideally involving real-time communication, persistent connections, or large-scale agent-based architectures.
  • Cloud infrastructure: Hands-on experience building and operating production applications in cloud environments, particularly AWS, with a strong focus on security, availability, and scalability.
  • Frontend development: Professional experience delivering frontend functionality using TypeScript and a modern JavaScript framework. You should be comfortable owning the user interface associated with backend features without needing to specialize exclusively in frontend engineering.
  • Security expertise: Practical experience implementing secure coding practices and applying relevant security principles, such as the OWASP guidelines.
  • Microservices and event-driven architecture: Familiarity with scaling microservices, event ingestion systems, WebSockets, real-time messaging technologies such as Kafka or MQTT, and non-relational databases such as DynamoDB.
  • Systems and operations knowledge: Understanding of networking, DevOps practices, application monitoring, performance tuning, and production troubleshooting.
  • Testing and quality assurance: A quality-first mindset, with experience designing effective tests, improving automated testing practices, and validating the impact of changes before and after release.
  • Leadership and communication: Strong communication skills, sound technical judgment, and the ability to mentor colleagues while working effectively with engineering and non-engineering stakeholders in a remote environment.
  • Collaboration and ownership: A proactive, analytical approach to solving complex problems, taking responsibility for outcomes, and balancing independent execution with close team collaboration.
  • Additional advantages: Experience developing desktop or cross-platform applications; building software that runs on customer endpoints across Windows, macOS, or Linux, such as agents, installers, and system services; or writing automated end-to-end tests using Python, Playwright, or similar tools.
  • Work authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future employer-sponsored visa support.
  • Location eligibility: This is a fully remote position within the United States. Candidates based in California or the New York metropolitan area are not eligible.
  • Competitive compensation: Annual base salary ranging from $140,000 to $190,000 USD, depending on experience, skills, industry knowledge, and location.
  • Additional compensation: Bonus opportunities and equity for full-time employees, in addition to base salary and benefits.
  • Retirement planning: 401(k) matching to help support long-term financial goals.
  • Flexible time off: Flexible paid time off and a generous sick leave policy.
  • Comprehensive healthcare: Medical coverage with substantial employer contributions, along with comprehensive health plan options.
  • Insurance protection: Company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance.
  • Health savings support: Monthly employer contributions to a Health Savings Account (HSA), ranging from $100 to $200 depending on the selected plan tier.
  • Lifestyle benefits: A $25 monthly lifestyle spending allowance to support personal well-being and everyday needs.
  • Remote work support: $50 per month in internet reimbursement and a $500 home office stipend.
  • Family support: A $10,000 adoption benefit and family planning coverage through the applicable medical plan.
  • Remote-first culture: Work from a home office as part of a fully distributed team that values autonomy, collaboration, and meaningful ownership.
  • Professional development: Opportunities to strengthen technical leadership, tackle complex engineering challenges, and contribute to the evolution of a widely used cloud-native platform.
  • Inclusive workplace: A commitment to equal employment opportunities and a respectful environment where diverse perspectives are valued.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
