The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer - Agent Team based in the United States.

In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable software that powers cloud-native endpoint management across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments. You will contribute to event-driven services and endpoint software that help organizations automate IT operations, strengthen security, and manage devices efficiently. Working within a collaborative engineering team, you will solve complex distributed systems challenges while delivering reliable, secure, and high-performance solutions. You will work across backend services and modern frontend applications, using technologies such as Go, Java, TypeScript, and cloud infrastructure. The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, giving you the opportunity to understand how your services perform in production and continuously improve their reliability. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, program management, and technical support teams in a fully remote environment. With dedicated time for technical innovation, learning, and reducing technical debt, you will help shape the future of cloud-based IT operations.

Accountabilities:

  • Research, design, develop, test, and maintain secure, scalable software solutions that support communication with millions of endpoint agents deployed worldwide.
  • Extend and improve event-driven services that power platform capabilities and endpoint applications across Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
  • Develop backend services using technologies such as Go, Java, TypeScript, and other suitable programming languages, contributing to reliable and maintainable distributed systems.
  • Build and deliver frontend features using TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks, including taking ownership of the user interface components associated with backend features.
  • Design, implement, and optimize microservices and large-scale event ingestion systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and operational resilience.
  • Contribute to cloud-based application development and deployment, applying security best practices across infrastructure, services, and data flows.
  • Improve system performance and reliability through automated testing, performance tuning, refactoring, usability enhancements, and workflow automation.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive testing practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, to ensure high-quality software releases.
  • Monitor production services, investigate incidents, understand system failure modes, and proactively address reliability, performance, and cost optimization opportunities.
  • Evaluate technical alternatives, communicate recommendations clearly, and incorporate feedback through collaborative design and architecture discussions.
  • Use data and production insights to assess the impact of development changes before and after deployment.
  • Take ownership of services throughout their lifecycle, from initial design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, program managers, and technical support professionals to identify customer needs and deliver effective solutions.
  • Contribute to technical debt reduction, service health improvements, and engineering innovation while balancing roadmap priorities with ongoing learning and experimentation.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and follow established technical guidelines while contributing ideas and recommendations as your expertise develops.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience designing, developing, testing, and monitoring applications in a high-availability SaaS environment.
  • Strong programming experience in Go (Golang) or Java is preferred. Candidates with experience across multiple programming languages and a demonstrated ability to adapt to different technology stacks are also encouraged to apply.
  • Professional experience delivering frontend features using TypeScript and a modern JavaScript framework, with the ability to develop and maintain user interfaces alongside backend functionality.
  • Experience building and deploying production applications in cloud environments, preferably AWS, with a strong understanding of security best practices.
  • Familiarity with microservice architectures, distributed systems, and large-scale event ingestion platforms.
  • Experience with real-time communication technologies, such as WebSockets, Kafka, or MQTT, and an understanding of their use in scalable systems.
  • Familiarity with non-relational databases such as DynamoDB and an understanding of data storage and retrieval in distributed applications.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, application monitoring, automated deployment, and production troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, code quality, performance optimization, and maintainable software design.
  • Ability to analyze technical challenges, assess trade-offs, recommend appropriate solutions, and incorporate feedback into implementation decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed, cross-functional engineering team.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, strong ownership of technical responsibilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to shared engineering goals and maintaining clear communication with colleagues.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work visas.
  • Ability to complete the required federal, state, and county background checks and local in-person identity verification.
  • Experience developing desktop or cross-platform applications.
  • Experience building software that runs directly on customer endpoints across Windows, macOS, or Linux, such as agents, installers, or system services.
  • Experience writing automated end-to-end tests using Python, Playwright, or similar frameworks.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Rust, Vue, PostgreSQL, Redis, Amazon S3, or other tools used in cloud-native application development.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
