Role Overview
We are looking for a Microsoft SharePoint Farm Administrator to operate, secure, and maintain our on-premises SharePoint Server environments. You will own day-to-day farm administration across production and non-production environments, lead the technical response to platform incidents, and work with infrastructure, security, database, and application teams to keep the platform reliable and recoverable.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer multi-server SharePoint farms using Central Administration and PowerShell. Manage web applications, service applications, content databases, and farm configuration.
- Monitor farm health, availability, performance, and capacity. Troubleshoot issues using Unified Logging Service (ULS) logs, Windows Event Viewer, and infrastructure monitoring tools.
- Plan and execute SharePoint updates, configuration changes, and upgrades. Validate changes in non-production environments, document rollback procedures, and verify service health after deployment.
- Manage farm-level security, including service accounts, authentication settings, TLS certificates, and privileged access. Coordinate vulnerability remediation and support audit activities.
- Maintain backup and recovery procedures with database and infrastructure teams. Test restores and document results against agreed recovery objectives.
- Provide advanced support for platform incidents, coordinate escalations, and document root causes and corrective actions.
- Automate recurring administrative tasks with PowerShell and maintain farm topology diagrams, configuration records, and operational runbooks.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting production, multi-server Microsoft SharePoint Server farms in an on-premises environment.
- Proficiency with SharePoint Central Administration and PowerShell, including scripting for health checks, configuration, and routine maintenance.
- Experience patching SharePoint farms, validating service health after changes, and coordinating production maintenance windows.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, IIS, Active Directory, DNS, TLS, and Microsoft SQL Server as they relate to SharePoint operations.
- Practical experience troubleshooting SharePoint service applications, authentication, and performance issues across application, web, and database tiers.
- Experience with backup and restore procedures, incident management, and change control in a production environment.
- Ability to write clear technical documentation and communicate incident impact, risks, and recovery status to technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SharePoint Server Subscription Edition and migrations from earlier SharePoint Server releases.
- Experience operating highly available SharePoint environments, including coordination with SQL Server Always On availability groups and load-balanced web front ends.
- Familiarity with SharePoint hybrid configurations and migrations to SharePoint Online.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening.
- A degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
