The posting

About Avalyn:

Avalyn aims to transform the treatment paradigm for pulmonary fibrosis and other serious, rare respiratory diseases. The company is advancing optimized inhaled formulations of established antifibrotic medicines designed to deliver drug directly to the lungs, enhance local efficacy, and reduce systemic side effects. Avalyn’s AP01 program is an optimized inhaled formulation of pirfenidone currently being evaluated in MIST, a global Phase 2b clinical trial in patients with progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF). AP01 has demonstrated encouraging safety and clinical activity across Phase 1b and an ongoing, multi-year open-label extension trial, with long-term data supporting the potential to preserve lung function while improving tolerability relative to historical oral pirfenidone. Avalyn’s AP02 program is an optimized inhaled formulation of nintedanib currently being evaluated in AURA-IPF, a global Phase 2 clinical trial in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Avalyn is also advancing AP03, an inhaled fixed-dose combination of pirfenidone and nintedanib, designed to deliver multiple antifibrotic mechanisms through a single lung-targeted platform. By leveraging its proprietary drug-device approach and deep expertise in rare respiratory disease development, Avalyn aims to establish a new standard of care in pulmonary fibrosis through inhaled, lung-targeted therapies. Position Overview:

The Senior Manager, New Product Planning translates clinical, scientific, and market insight into commercial strategy for Avalyn's pipeline. This role will help drive core New Product Planning workstreams, including target Product Profile development, market landscape and epidemiology assessment, market research, forecasting, and early commercialization planning. This role will serve as a key commercial voice in partnership with our cross-functional program teams. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Commercial and working closely with the Director of New Product Planning, this person ensures that development decisions, launch timing, and go-to-market strategy are grounded in a clear-eyed view of the market opportunity for Avalyn's inhaled therapies in pulmonary fibrosis and adjacent rare lung diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the commercial voice in interactions with cross-functional program teams, partnering with Clinical Development, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and Finance to ensure commercial insight informs development decisions.
  • Develop and adapt Target Product Profiles (TPPs) in collaboration with clinical and medical leadership.
  • Develop and maintain market landscape assessments, epidemiology and addressable-patient models for pulmonary fibrosis and adjacent rare lung disease indications.
  • Conduct competitive intelligence and market assessments to identify emerging opportunities, evolving treatment landscapes, competitor strategies, and unmet patient needs that inform new product planning and portfolio strategy.
  • Support key commercial projects for our pipeline assets, including product naming, packaging, branding, and product positioning.
  • Support pricing, market access, and reimbursement strategy development in partnership with external consultants and internal stakeholders.
  • Continuously refine Avalyn's New Product Planning processes, templates, and deliverables in partnership with the SVP of Commercial and Director of New Product Planning.
  • Synthesize primary and secondary market research, including KOL and advisory board input, into actionable recommendations. This role will also directly lead small research projects from time to time, so this person should be comfortable with generating Discussion Guides, research interview facilitation, and insight creation.
  • Develop business cases and forecasts to support pipeline investment and prioritization decisions.
  • Identify and manage external vendors/consultants (market research, forecasting, launch consulting) needed to supplement the Commercial team.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree (e.g. MS, PhD, PharmD or equivalent) preferred.
  • 5–8 plus years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical new product planning, marketing, commercial analytics, commercial strategy, life sciences strategy consulting or related experience is required.
  • Rare disease, respiratory/pulmonary, or specialty pharmaceutical experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a growing or small-company commercial organization is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop Target Product Profiles, forecast models, and market assessment overviews independently.Comfort operating with ambiguity and evolving scope as part of a newly formed team — this role and the broader Commercial function will continue to take shape as Avalyn scales toward commercialization.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and influence skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and influence without formal authority across Clinical, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Finance, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and data visualization skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, dashboards, and related business intelligence tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing materials for executive and Board audiences.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
