The posting

Avidyne exists to make aircraft easier to fly. Our Hardware Engineering team is a multidisciplinary, tight-knit group of engineers and technicians who develop, certify, and support our next generation of airborne sensors, displays, and flight management systems.

What You'll Do

• Defining and capturing hardware system features, functions, and interfaces, and guiding our avionics projects through development and certification.

• Writing hardware specifications, requirements, and test procedures, and making sure our products meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.

• Turning technical standards into system requirements and test plans and leading the definition and capture of certification and compliance requirements.

• Leading the development effort through every phase of a formal software and hardware lifecycle, per Avidyne's internal processes, DO-178C, and DO-254 as required.

• Completing System Safety Assessments (SSA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Reliability Predictions per FAA guidance and industry or military standards.

• Tracing system requirements to hardware component requirements, and verification test cases back to requirements, so system verification is complete.

• Performing verification tests, and authoring and releasing verification reports.

• Managing the System Engineering and Verification Document Tree.

• Taking part in design reviews that lead to well-developed test plans and procedures and coordinating them.

• Building and maintaining relationships with customers, FAA certification authorities, and other key stakeholders.

Why Avidyne

At Avidyne, we exist to make aircraft easier to fly. Our mission, Simply Flying, guides the products we design and the way we work. We build avionics that are high-quality, intuitive, and straightforward to install, helping pilots focus on what matters most.

What You Bring

• Undergraduate degree in Systems, Computer, Aerospace, Math, Physics, or another engineering discipline.

• At least 3 years of industry experience in systems engineering, requirements development, and requirements management, and related tools (e.g., DOORS), or a Master's degree in a related field plus 2 years of similar industry experience.

• Knowledge of systems and test engineering principles, and of requirements development and management.

• Strong verbal and written communication, including technical documentation.

• Initiative, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to handle multiple priorities, moving deadlines, evolving requirements, and changing focus.

• Ability to identify and resolve complex problems.

• Willingness and ability to mentor others.

• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.

Bonus Points

• Master's degree from an ABET-accredited program, or other formal training in systems engineering.

• Knowledge or experience with aircraft avionics systems.

• Knowledge or experience with 14 CFR Part 23, 25, 27, or 29 aircraft.

• Knowledge or experience with commercial avionics standards and processes such as RTCA DO-178C, RTCA DO-254, and AC 23.1209-1E.

• Familiarity with FAA TSO, STC, ASTM, and/or TC processes.

• Experience with DOORS requirements management software.

• Familiarity with DO-160 environmental qualification, including HIRF and lightning.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
